Mummyzilla: Christmas crafting
http://mummyzilla.blogspot.com/2013/11/christmas-crafting.html
Sunday, November 3, 2013. This year Father Christmas is going with a tried and tested winner. Felt food. Some chocolate chip cookies. For time and effort, these are definitely a winner. Quick to make and large enough to seem like some proper presents. And some blueberries (unfortunately garishly blue since I didn't have any really dark blue felt in my stash). I'm still pretty happy with them. What Christmas gifts are you making this year? And have you started? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Valentin...

Tuesday, September 24, 2013. Serendipity and the Hospice Shop. About J's birthday presents I decided to hit the Hospice Shop for some bits and pieces. Unfortunately it was a Saturday, so I had to let P and J come with me. Well, I didn't have to. Complete with floral motif! J did ask what the tin was for, and I just said for some stuff. She'll still be very excited to see it on her birthday. And some placemats to make into a flower press. The original tutorial. Joining up with the Op Shop show off. That t...

Our branch of the tree: Happy Valentine's Day!!

Our branch of the tree. Friday, February 15, 2013. Hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's Day! I'm not sure why the picture came out upside down. Kaitlyn had fun at her party and so did the rest of her class. I made some Valen-slime ( www.stitchcraftcreations.com. Though I have to say I had more success using the microwave over the stovetop. Here are Katilyn's Valentine's that she handed out. She was so excited! Here is Keith's Valentine. This is what he picked out to make and they turned out so cute!

Mummyzilla: Pirorohu Vest Pattern
http://mummyzilla.blogspot.com/2012/06/pirorohu-vest-pattern.html
Tuesday, June 26, 2012. Close up of the bee stitch on the body of the vest. So I have finally published another knitting pattern. This one is for a little 4 ply vest, done mostly in bee stitch. This stitch works best in a verigated yarn, and mine is in 100purewool in Grenada. The bee stitch keeps the knitting in the round from being too monotonous, and adds a lovely textural element to the vest. The name of the vest - Pirorohu, means bumblebee in Maori and is of course, a reference to the stitch. It occu...

Mummyzilla: August 2013
http://mummyzilla.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 23, 2013. J had a red day at kindy today, and although we had some red tops, she didn't have anything to wear on her bottom half. So we made a skirt out of a woolen jersey in my stash. It was super simple to make. I just cut the jersey off under the arms to make a rectangle open at two ends. I had to use underwear elastic because that's all I had, but J didn't seem too worried about it. It certainly did the job for her Red day (in honour of Red Nose Day), and she wore it all afternoon.
