Streetcorner Child: Drive-By Faith
http://streetcornerchild.blogspot.com/2008/09/drive-by-faith.html
Tuesday, September 23, 2008. Riding along in my sister's car last weekend I noticed a large banner posted on the grounds outside a local church - Presbyterian, I think, though I'm not 100% sure. The banner read : "Christian Lite! With a flame as the dot over the 'i' in 'Lite'. And really, when you use the standard beer spelling (LITE) rather than the actual word you mean (LIGHT) - what else can you expect? Standard beer spelling"- SNORT! September 23, 2008 at 8:37 AM. Streetcorner Child: Night Owl
http://streetcornerchild.blogspot.com/2008/09/night-owl.html
Saturday, September 6, 2008. People always say that working in the restaurant industry gives you a terrible schedule and messes with your sleep patterns. And in a way it's true. Working from 4pm to 3am is nothing if not different. Skipping happy hour, skipping dinner, skipping tv/internet/phone time? Skipping the necessary end-of-day unwind? Of course not. Even if the day was long and intense and all you want to do is sit down with your feet up, you need that time, on the COUCH, not in bed, to relax.

Debbi's Random Thoughts: August 2012
http://debbisrandomthoughts.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Whatever comes to mind. Monday, August 6, 2012. I've been gone from Blogland for awhile! I don't really have an excuse for not writing a blog entry in almost a year. It seems like I just didn't have that much to say! I've been thoroughly enjoying retirement. I do a lot more reading, needlework and genealogy than I ever had time for before, but my running has suffered some major setbacks. I have had six surgeries (seven, if you count cataract surgery! I used to be a skeptic, but no more! The Web of Empire.

Debbi's Random Thoughts: May 2010
http://debbisrandomthoughts.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Whatever comes to mind. Wednesday, May 26, 2010. Nature Girl by Carl Hiaasen. Honey Santana is off her meds, reacting rapidly to the bad behavior of others. This time, the annoyer is a telemarketer from Texas. Honey's revenge? This is a crazy, fast-paced romp through the Florida Everglades with a wacky cast of characters. This is nothing like Orlando or Miami, but real. Florida, with alligators, snakes, mosquitos and fire ants. Wednesday, May 19, 2010. It hardly seems like it has been 23 years since he w...

Streetcorner Child: "My cousin is a porn star and my mom is 56!!"
http://streetcornerchild.blogspot.com/2008/09/my-cousin-is-porn-star-and-my-mom-is-56.html
Tuesday, September 2, 2008. My cousin is a porn star and my mom is 56! What more could you hope to hear ring out at the top of a sloshed blonde's lungs at midnight on a Sunday? Nothing, I tell you, nothing at all. Friday and Saturday were as slow as any other August weekend in DC, while Sunday was as frenzied as the last day of school - only, if you think about it, it should have been more like the. Day of school, what with September starting and all. Drink, drink on Sundays and everyday! The observation...

Streetcorner Child: Metrobus Madness
http://streetcornerchild.blogspot.com/2008/09/metrobus-madness.html
Thursday, September 4, 2008. As a general rule I am proud to be a native Washingtonian, one actually born and raised. The city limits (as opposed to all the suburban Maryland and Virginia neighbors who claim DC as home to make things easier for others to place them.) I am also very proud of the fact that I have been riding the bus and Metro my entire life - since my parents never had a car, the bus has always been my friend. September 4, 2008 at 1:06 PM. Debbi's Random Thoughts: The King's Grace by Anne Easter Smith
http://debbisrandomthoughts.blogspot.com/2011/10/kings-grace-by-anne-easter-smith.html
Whatever comes to mind. Wednesday, October 26, 2011. The King's Grace by Anne Easter Smith. All that history knows of Grace Plantagenet is that she was an illegitimate daughter of Edward IV and one of two attendants aboard the funeral barge of his widowed queen. Thus, she was half sister of the famous young princes, who—when this story begins in 1485—had been housed in the Tower by their uncle, Richard III, and are presumed dead. I would definitely recommend this book. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Debbi's Random Thoughts: March 2011
http://debbisrandomthoughts.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Whatever comes to mind. Saturday, March 26, 2011. Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. In inimitable style, Hilary Mantel's. Is "a darkly brilliant reimagining of life under Henry VIII.Magnificent" (. However, Ms Mantel's writing style is abrupt and choppy in the extreme. I found myself looking forward to finishing the book! Still, it was a good book, and many others have given it rave reviews, so lovers of historical fiction may like it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. The Web of Empire.
