Tuesday, 31 March 2015. Maven BJJ - Woking. We arrived early and were made to feel very welcome by some of the members who were waiting to go in. The club is located in a room in a very large gymnasium in Woking, so not a permanently matted area. However the jigsaw mats were very quick and easy to lay down unlike those heavy large mats most Judo clubs seem to favour. Overall I really enjoyed my time at Maven BJJ. Thursday, 5 February 2015. A Rich reward as Dorking Senior earns black belt. It appears I have gained a certain amount of notoriety as the local paper printed an article about my black belt presentation here. Wednesday, 15 July 2015. And so it begins – Nova Forca BJJ. For the last 6 weeks I have been training BJJ at Nova Forca’s new headquarters in Epsom. They now have a fulltime dedicated dojo which includes a reception area where they sell training equipment and sports drinks, a well-equipped gym, toilets and of course a fully matted area with kick bags and a half cage for those also training MMA. Tuesday, 17 February 2009. De la riva massacres small defenceless orphans. Best of the comp by far but I had to disqualify him for “bad manners” as we say in the orphanage. We all laughed though and he was happy enough with the throw. Next lesson I decide to work on some of the mistakes I saw common in their matches. Sunday, 28 December 2008. Been reading this book over Christmass (Jiu jitsu university - Saulo Ribiero), really enjoying it. Giving me lots of ideas for articles and Im only 1/5th of the way through. Survival postures, dead angles for sweeps, many escapes including one where you turn away from side control (normaly a bad idea as it leads to them on your back). Thursday, 31 December 2009. Links to this post. Monday, 21 December 2009. Underneath side control Im still continueing to attack from with a combo of reverse triangles, kimura's and sweeps. With my favourite being a kind of bottom crucifix position where I have trapped one of their arms between my legs. Severly limits their ability to transition or attack and opens up some interesting options depending on their response. Young lad to, cant wait to see what he accomplishes. Not bad Jeff :).

Sunday, 29 November 2009. Training and catch up. Been busy the last 2 weeks so not as much training as I would like. On the plus side Im now Archery leader qualified under GNAS. Archery and BJJ? Why not. Im also now riding a motorbike, a brand spanking new Yamaha 125YBR. My first vehicle of any kind so have been trying to gets to grips with that. Lots of adventures already. Friday, 24 July 2009. Muay Thai - my first lesson. Some thing I didnt realise was long time training buddy Kieran has been doing the class since its inception some time ago. So thats 2nd dan judo, blue belt BJJ and experienced muay thai striker - oh dear mr opponent I do not envy you. We did a long warm up that was pretty good.
