When you're not the one who has it. October 30, 2015. Strategy #23: Chores to do? Harness the power of Now. Posted by ADD Survivor under Uncategorized. An ADD partner will do just about anything for 10 minutes if it happens right now. If you don’t have ADD, your sense of time is detailed and expansive. “Later this afternoon” is about 4 o’clock. “Tomorrow morning” comes at 8. Next week–you can envision that. Saturday night? I bet you know just where that fits in your weekly schedule. October 14, 2015.

About me | Surviving ADD

https://survivingadd.wordpress.com/about

When you're not the one who has it. Getting involved with an ADD guy was not the original plan, but I fell in love. Then, after a few years, I went crazy. With the help of two good counselors (one for us and one for me because I needed a double-dose) and all the fortitude a formerly Catholic girl can muster, I stuck with the relationship. And you know what? My ADD Max (MADD Max, for short) turned out not to be the messy, inconsiderate, self-absorbed man I (only occasionally, dear! Enter your comment here.

When you're not the one who has it. If you think your partner has ADD (or ADHD, which stands for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder), first do some reading to find out more about it. Many books include checklists of behaviors associated with ADD that can help you see if the way your partner is acting is typical of the disorder. A few of the most well-known books are:. Driven to Distraction: Recognizing and Coping With Attention-Deficit Disorder From Childhood Through Adulthood. You are commenting u...

When you're not the one who has it. I asked my ADD partner Max to suggest some survival tools for non-ADD partners. This is what he came up with. Reliable but not very fast-acting. Worked great with Napoleon. Much faster. But they’ll drink up all your gatoraide before you’re done. My tools are a little less extreme:. Because your partner can’t read your mind. Do what you mean and mean what you say. 10 Responses to “Survival tools”. December 27, 2015 at 3:02 pm. December 28, 2015 at 10:13 am. For now, I t...

When you're not the one who has it. February 24, 2012. The New York Times: Unfocused on ADHD. Posted by ADD Survivor under attention. Last Sunday, the New York Times published an opinion piece by playwright Hanif Kureishi titled “The Art of Distraction.” (Read it here. The subhead sums up his point: “A flighty mind might be going somewhere. Is our focus on focus misguided? I told this story to the therapeutic yoga specialist I see every few months. How old is she? He asked. Twenty-three, more than th...

Bitching about living with ADHD. A Reality Check on ADHD. What is it like to be ADHD? What is it like to be ADHD? One of the top researchers (I think it was either Barkley or Jain) once said that the closest to an ADHD brain a “normal” person can come to is being very, very sleep deprived and very stressed out. Dealing with many demands and possibly also full of caffeine and sugar. So imagine when you were a college student struggling to work and study and getting no sleep, exhausted and stressed out.

Bitching about living with ADHD. A Reality Check on ADHD. What is it like to be ADHD? November 17, 2011. Here’s how empathy works with ADHD. 1 Identification with and understanding of another’s situation, feelings, and motives. 2 the attribution to an object, such as a work of art, of one’s own emotional or intellectual feelings about it. Feelings of pity and sorrow for someone else’s misfortune. Formal expression of such feelings; condolences. So why does my ADHDer seem to lack empathy? Because of my AD...

Bitching about living with ADHD. A Reality Check on ADHD. What is it like to be ADHD? A Reality Check on ADHD. Here is what (I think) is the crux or heart of the problem:. They severely downplay what ADHD is and what goes into managing ADHD. When you (an ADHDer or a loved one of an ADHDer) go looking for information, it comes across as if all you need is a little will power, some post it notes, a medication and have read a book or two. Shunted off to the side. How can you possibly make all these strategi...

Surviving Acne

Saturday, 1 August 2015. Mario Badescu Flower and Tonic Mask. I am a big fan of face masks but I have to be careful as I have very sensitive (and acne prone, obviously) skin; Mario Badescu products were actually some of the first I tried around 10 years ago when I first started getting spots and blackheads. When I was looking for a gentle face mask to buy I stumbled upon this one! You leave it on for 20 minutes until dry and then gently remove with warm water or a cleanser. Thursday, 30 July 2015. And maybe it was because the new tv show Speechless. Maybe Blogger messed up its stats.". And then I went. Wait People read my story? People outside of my little adoption community? Crap Now everyone knows my struggles. Did someone comment 'Blimey'? Feel free...
