Susan's Musings: My Planned Parenthood Story

http://susama.blogspot.com/2011/07/my-planned-parenthood-story.html

A little bit of everything. Thursday, July 07, 2011. My Planned Parenthood Story. In fact, to qualify for state aid, you have to be a child or already be a parent. There is no aid for people who want to avoid becoming parents through good medical care and birth control. Except there is, because Planned Parenthood provides it. The blog carnival is being hosted at What Tami Said and Shakesville. You can find a bunch of wonderful stories here. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Why does it not surprise me to find that the takeaway message from an article on how overweight women earn less than their average weight counterparts. Is that women should try harder to lose weight? Sunday, May 15, 2011. Tips for lowering cholesterol. Some particularly good fruits and veggies: garlic, apples, beans, soy proteins. Eat fish regularly, especially salmon. http://susama.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

A little bit of everything. Saturday, March 13, 2010. That we as a culture had a much more liberal definition of what constitutes acceptable make-up. Like, the kind of makeup you see on models in art photographs or runways, or men wearing more make-up. I'd like to see it be more about the statement and the personality than just conventional prettiness. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Affluenza Recovery: January 2008

http://affluenzarecovery.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 19, 2008. Skipping around, socioeconomically. College was a mixed bag—I wasn’t well-off, but I wasn’t poor. I worked hard, with at least one job all the way through, but between my jobs and my parents help, I had plenty of money to buy new clothes and go out partying. I wasn’t buying the designer stuff, but I wasn’t avoiding the mall, either. For the second time this season, and I will do the summer Muny. Shows again this year. Links to this post. Affluenza Recovery: The house sucks up new things

http://affluenzarecovery.blogspot.com/2008/11/house-sucks-up-new-things.html

Tuesday, November 11, 2008. The house sucks up new things. Ok, so I am still getting rid of stuff. As I unpack boxes, I am putting many things in the Good Will pile, and I have made a few trips to actually get it out of the house. I have also given a lot of hand-me-downs to a friend, so that freed up some space. What I am struggling with is the decorating. How much stuff is reasonable to buy to decorate my new home? If I am buying stuff that I love, is it a sign of affluenza? View my complete profile.

Affluenza Recovery: November 2008

http://affluenzarecovery.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, November 30, 2008. Every year, I think I should join in the celebration of Buy Nothing Day. I say crazy not because I think they are crazy all the time, but because many of them get an absolutely crazed look on their faces as they pile more and more stuff into their arms, bags and carts. They are caught up in the frenzy, for sure. Still, I like the focus on gift-giving and other people of this shopping trip. Links to this post. Tuesday, November 11, 2008. The Almost Vegan Project: West African Peanut Stew

http://almostveganproject.blogspot.com/2007/01/west-african-peanut-stew.html

Sunday, January 21, 2007. West African Peanut Stew. Oh my goodness, was this a yummy recipe! I ate too much, because it was too good to stop. 1 1/2 Tbsp olive oil (I think; I just swirled some in the bottom of the pot). 1 red onion, chopped. 3-4 cloves of garlic, diced (I used a lot more). 2 cups shredded cabbage. 2 medium large sweet potatoes, diced. 1 can diced tomatoes. 1 tsp grated fresh ginger (or more, if you like it a little spicier- I used more). 1 10 oz. bag frozen okra. That's just crazy talk.

Affluenza Recovery: A very big purchase

http://affluenzarecovery.blogspot.com/2008/10/very-big-purchase.html

Thursday, October 2, 2008. A very big purchase. Here it is, my new house! Obviously, this is a big purchase that has led to many other big purchases (a washer and dryer, a new couch, new curtains, new artwork, a lawnmower, etc.), but it also led to me getting rid of A LOT of stuff. The Almost Vegan Project: June 2010

http://almostveganproject.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 29, 2010. I never thought I would see the day. I hope that my children aren’t going to get too tired of it. As usual, a consultation with the internet turned up many delicious looking recipes. I am gathering them all together here so that I can find them again when I am trying to figure out what to do with all of those squashes:. From FatFree Vegan Kitchen, a wonderfully fresh looking soup. Also from FatFree Vegan Kitchen, roasted yellow squash and onions. Links to this post. As I have said...

The Almost Vegan Project: Kids in the Kitchen

http://almostveganproject.blogspot.com/2011/03/kids-in-kitchen.html

Thursday, March 31, 2011. Kids in the Kitchen. The feminist in me was pleased to see that my daughter signed up for both FACS and Shop. No feminine limitations on that girl! But, since I know how much she wants to attend college, and her insistence, so far, on an Ivy League school (“I want to go to Harvard, like our president”), her great enthusiasm for these classes is a bit disconcerting to me. 8220;Did you know that in high school, you can take semester long FACS classes? It’s a interesting news!
