Susan's Patchwork Blog

A patchwork quilting adventure. Saturday, 25 April 2015. Last year, I taught a class on how to make the scrappy quilt and decided to make another one, this time it was for my parents for Christmas. I used different colours. It is the same pattern as the previous post and as you can see just how different the quilt looks in different shades. Three years ago I started making a scrappy quilt out of 2 1/2 inch blocks - it was fun and I loved working with the bright colours. I pre-cut the sashing ready to go.

Susan's Patchwork Blog: Dancing in the Rain quilt for my son

http://www.susanbblog.blogspot.com/2014/06/dancing-in-rain-quilt-for-my-son.html

A patchwork quilting adventure. Friday, 27 June 2014. Dancing in the Rain quilt for my son. This week I finished a single bed sized quilt for my teenage son. He helped choose the fabric. Dancing in the Rain Batiks by Laundry Basket Quilts for Moda Fabrics. I used 5 charm packs plus some yardage of green bought here in New Zealand which I supplemented some squares with and used for the binding. It was backed with tan polar fleece and machine quilted by my friend Dawn, who does an awesome job.

Susan's Patchwork Blog: January 2012

http://www.susanbblog.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

A patchwork quilting adventure. Saturday, 7 January 2012. Flutterbies - hexagon tutorial - sort of. It isn't even butterfly season. In the latest box from Kansas I found some material which mysteriously found its way in there, including right at the bottom of the pile in this photo some awesome little butterfly material. As soon as I pulled it out it talked to me. Make me into little hexagon flowers. Quite a while later, a small pile of hexagons, ready to go. I traced around the cardboard onto the materi...

Susan's Patchwork Blog: Tote Bags!

http://www.susanbblog.blogspot.com/2013/06/tote-bags.html

A patchwork quilting adventure. Sunday, 2 June 2013. Recently, I started to make bags, little bags, medium bags and big bags. Once I started, I found I really had trouble stopping. We'll start with the latest one I made. A friend admired my other bags and said she would like one too. So off we went down to the quilt shop - always never a chore going there and we rummaged around the fat quarter boxes and she chose the following colours. Before the bag is put together you sew it all up like below. I'm marr...

More Than Fields of Wheat. Sowing on the Plains. Err Sewing in the Hills of Kansas. August 29, 2012. Gift Bags and Illinois Roads. I got my cast off on Monday but we did not get the results we hoped for :( So, I'm still down a fully functional wrist for at least the next three weeks while we wait and see if the steroid shot works. So while wrist isn't fully functional at least I don't have a cast on my arm that itches and cannot get wet. While I'm not sewing much at the moment, this is an opportunity to ...
