http://sewfilled.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Sew Filled to the Brim. Saturday, April 19, 2014. Back to it again. I had a refreshing Spring Break last week with my family! Me and my younger brother. Me and my younger (yes, go figure) sister. My daughter and son, pictured on the right (pink and blue). My nieces to the left, minus their baby sister. So now I am back and ready to spring into action! I got my Palmer/Pletsch Fit for Real People. And Pants for Real People. Moving forward, I have decided to only work on my sloper for a few days out of the ...

Sew Filled to the Brim: June 2014
http://sewfilled.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Sew Filled to the Brim. Friday, June 20, 2014. Burdastyle June/July issue faves. I am happy to say I have moved past my sewing funk. It seems that getting into my sewing room, cleaning everything up, re-organizing past/future projects, and seeing what other inspiring bloggers have created, has helped me tremendously to move forward! This V-neck dress is a simple silhouette with a twist- at the side seams. I love the concept, and think it will either be terrible or fabulous! This dress is simply gorgeous!

English Paper Piecing – accidentlykellystreet
https://accidentlykellystreet.wordpress.com/2015/07/09/english-paper-piecing
Sewing, knitting and life. About me – ClaireEmily. July 9, 2015. So it seems I have a new passion – English Paper Piecing – which is hand sewn patch work, a very old and traditional quilting method. I took a two evening class at Stitches Seattle. The hexagons on their own looked like this. The basic method (or at least what I’m doing) is this:. 2) Pin the paper shape to the fabric and baste it on on the reverse side. You end up with a stack of fabric covered shapes like these. My favorite thing about EPP...

P317_7: Patrones Pink Shorts « poppykettle

P317 7: Patrones Pink Shorts. I used my trouser block draft from my previous post to (mostly) successfully alter a Patrones pattern to fit me straight up! Cue crazy happy dance! I bought this Patrones magazine (issue 317 – June 2012) after seeing it on Mel’s blog. Because I fell wildly in love with those pink shorts that are pattern #7. It’s only taken me two summers to actually get around to sewing them. I ended up sewing these using ‘couture’ methods, mainly because after throwing the silk ...I’l...

Nihon Yuushi: 冬 - Winter in Japan
http://nihonyuushi.blogspot.com/2011/02/blog-post.html
Monday, February 7, 2011. 冬 - Winter in Japan. It might be a bit milder, but keeping warm is a bit of a challenge in Japan, but there's many options. In America, our solution is to crank up the central heating or grab an extra blanket/sweater (Snuggie anyone? In Japan, stores will have central heating, but many homes will not. Many rely on wall heating/cooling units or heaters/stoves. My schools use big gas stoves, one for each classroom. It's a band to put around your stomach to keep you warm, like a wa...

My Wedding Dress « poppykettle
https://poppykettle.com/2014/05/21/my-wedding-dress
We were married under three 100 year old London Plane trees in Victoria’s high country in mid-April, just as the autumn leaves started to turn. I sewed my wedding dress (duh) and I don’t think I’ve been prouder of something I’ve achieved for myself – ever. It made the experience that much more special! Leisa, my Fabric Fairy Godmother. Alessia and the crew @ Marfy – the best patterns out there – thank you! Vikki Leigh Martin, for helping with proportion and fit. Susan Khalje, for enabling. All photos (ex...

M5929: The Blue Blotch Blouse. I’m calling it – 2013 is officially the year of the shirt. It certainly seems that everyone is either sewing or has sewn a button-up shirt this year – silk, crisp cotton, fitted or flowing. And if you’ve done neither, then I’d hazard a guess to say you’ve at least daydreamed about sewing one up after seeing so many gadding about the blogosphere? Mentally sewing is just as good as actually sewing, you know. All up, I’m really quite happy with it. I really do think ...And I l...
