Sokal教授在1983年發表了四篇文章談一群假想生物的分類與演化，這群生物被稱為Caminalcules。而這系列假想生物也在日後成為許多大學教授系統發育與系統分類學重要的素材。然而在2014年的現在，回頭看Sokal的這個想法，其實有很多奇怪的地方。我這篇文章主要的用意就是告訴大家，如何看待Sokal當年的想法與理論背景，還有他的這些假想生物是否適合在高中生物與大學系統發育學中當成教材。如果不適合，為什麼？如果適合，應該怎麼做？ 1) 首先，請注意Sokal本身是數量分類學(numerical taxonomy)，也就是表型學派(phenetics)的支持者，而不是支序學派(cladistics)的學者。左邊這個圖經常出現在生物學課本中。anagenesis叫線性演化，而cladogenesis則是分支演化。線性演化的意思是說，新物種的形成是由祖先種直接變成子孫種，也就是說新物種的形成是漸變式的(gradualism)。而分支演化下的物種形成(speciation)則認為共祖會產生兩...那表型學派的物種形成觀點是線性還是分支？其實都不是&#12290...
