Friday, January 30, 2009. Our younger son, now 9, has been scared at night. Considering all we've been through this past year and a half, I have been allowing him to sleep next to me on the floor. The Swede and I are trying to help him with these fears. I told him that when I was a kid, I too was really scared. On the back of my bedroom door, I had posted a prayer card. Wednesday, May 13, 2009. A few weeks ago a neighbor walked his dog past our house. Scout and he had a ball roughhousing on our lawn while The Swede chatted with his new friend. A day later, The Swede emailed me with a black Lab puppy up for adoption. I knew I wanted a second dog, I was just thinking it would be a few years away. I was enjoying the calm in our lives and wasn't sure I was ready for a puppy. Still, with some trepidation, I filled out the form. That night, I couldn't stop thinking about her.

Wednesday, November 29, 2006. Before we get too far away from Thanksgiving, I wanted to post a few thoughts and pictures from that week. Thanksgiving Day this year was truly spectacular from every aspect. The weather was unseasonably warm, which made our relatively new tradition of deep frying a turkey outside a much more pleasurable experience than on previous Thanksgivings. I cooked two 14 lbs turkeys to perfection, while drinking beer and smoking a cigar. it does not get any better than that!
