Thinking Out Loud: April 2013
http://kimradatz.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 8, 2013. The Gift of a Residency. That’s what I did this weekend; I gave myself the gift of a residency. Nope, I didn’t apply for anything, or get any funding. I gave this time to myself. I am fortunate enough to have carte blanche access to a condo in Daytona Beach, Florida that over looks the Intercoastal Waterway. For a salt loving, ocean loving person this is pure heaven. But I seldom go. It’s too difficult most of the time to just go. Life gets in the way. Part of being an artist.
Thinking Out Loud: Me and Tink
http://kimradatz.blogspot.com/2012/02/me-and-tink.html
Thursday, February 9, 2012. Sometimes a piece will make itself. I’ll get an idea and bam, it all falls together seamlessly. No laboring. No redoing. No tinkering. But at other times, ugh, work, rework, think about it, and tinker with it. Usually I’ll do the required dance to bring the piece to fruition. Tinker here. Tweak there. And then, wah-lah, it’s done. Other times I have to call it quits on the idea. And that’s okay. Frustrating, but part of the process. Tweaking, tinkering, all the same, methinks.
Thinking Out Loud: One Year, One Month, One Day
http://kimradatz.blogspot.com/2013/03/one-year-one-month-one-day.html
Sunday, March 10, 2013. One Year, One Month, One Day. That is exactly the amount of time that has passed since I last blogged. It wasn’t an intentional choice to stop, it just happened. First, I went to Penland School of Crafts. For an encaustic class. Which was FABULOUS, by the way. I learned lots and met a wonderful group of artists. Hands down one of the best experiences that I have had taking a workshop. (Below are a few pieces I made during the workshop.). But, here I am back again. Letting Go, Green.
Thinking Out Loud: Do You Consider Yourself a Lucky Person?
http://kimradatz.blogspot.com/2012/01/do-you-consider-yourself-lucky-person.html
Friday, January 27, 2012. Do You Consider Yourself a Lucky Person? If yes, why? I understand some things are about luck, like say, winning the lottery. But if one hadn’t bought the ticket in the first place, then they never would have won. It took their effort, the buying of the ticket which enabled them to win. So is it luck? My belief falls in the latter group. Wise words from the drink coaster I use every day, “Luck is good planning carefully executed”. Yep, that’s what I believe. Have a great weekend!

Thursday, June 30, 2011. Some Days Are More Challenging Than Others. 8220;Happiness comes when you overcome the most impossible challenge.”. In the whole scheme of life, the challenge I am facing with this new series I am working on is nothing. But, oh how I wish it would ease up a bit. I have been inside out and upside down and everywhere in-between with no resolution on the work. I’ll let you know if and when it works out. Until then, may your day be a productive one! Thinking Out Loud: August 2011
http://kimradatz.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Rules Were Made to Be Broken. Today I read a blog post by Seth Apter of The Altered Page on blogging tips for artists and found it interesting, so I am sharing it with you. Give it a read. I think you might find it interesting too. One thing Seth said really stood out for me. It reads:. Also, blogging in and of itself takes time. To feel like I must include an image each time overwhelms me with guilt and guilt is something I am trying to eliminate from my life. But more importan...

Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Facing My Fears, Yet Again. Do one thing every day that scares you. I am a scardy cat. No doubt about it. But I am trying to get better by facing my fears. And not all of them are art related. Many, if not most, are just about regular ol’ life. Like my fear of heights. Checkin’ that one off the bucket list as my gift to myself. May your day be a wonderful one! Labels: facing my fears. Friday, September 23, 2011. Fall display by the 49 Ford truck. 65279;. I was reminded of a...
Thinking Out Loud: March 2013
http://kimradatz.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 19, 2013. I took the Encaustic class at Penland School of Crafts. That I mentioned in an earlier post. A year ago knowing I wanted to work 3 dimensionally, but it took me this long to finally get a piece done. Sometimes work just has to percolate for a while. And the main piece that has been brewing and stewing all along is Little White Lies. Some of the issues I struggled with were:. Should I have a wheel or not? What should I fill it with, if anything? One thing I wanted to use were the ...
Thinking Out Loud: July 2011
http://kimradatz.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 29, 2011. How Do You Do That? A fellow blogger recently asked about the dresses that are in the Cloth Paper Scissors. Magazine, specifically about the patterns, dress patterns, and if the dresses are wearable. Re my process, I use actual dress patterns, 2 per dress, purchased from a fabric store adhered to vinyl with any medium of choice. My preference is Liquitex Matt Medium, but there are a bazillion others to choose from. Have paint, graphite, and charcoal. Is collaged tissue paper. Deep ...
