I AM AN OOCYTE! I am an oocyte that is found in the reproductive system of the female Xenopus Laevis. I am very big! I am the largest cell in the body! I have a diameter of about 1.0- 1.2 mm. I am permeable to small molecules, but when I get older, my fate is to become an unfertilized egg. I do so by undergoing meiosis. After I undergo meiosis, I am impermeable to these same molecules.
