How to do etegami. Why not take a little rest? April 28, 2015. 8220;Why not take a little rest? I painted this little etegami of a red panda after a visit to the US National Zoo’s Front Royal location. In Virginia, way back in October 2014. The red pandas were moved there to encourage breeding — I guess city life gets them down. These guys inspired quite a few red panda etegami — stay tuned for a few more. Happy Library Week, 2015! How to do etegami. The purple violet sweet. April 29, 2015. Violets are everywhere: lawns, on the side of the road, in the cracks on the sidewalk, gardens, on hiking paths. Apparently they are weeds and the internet is full of strategies for killing them. I like them, so tiny and sweet. I took a couple of photos of violets this weekend, on a hike in Rock Creek Park in Washington DC, and came home to paint some etegami. The first features some paraphrased words from a Charlotte Bronte poem. This work is l...

How to do etegami. Knock their eyes out. May 4, 2015. The tulips are almost gone, their naked stems suffering the indignity of losing all their petals. Here’s one that welcomed me on my walk to work for a few weeks. It was on U St NW, near 5th St, and I love how it just sort of peeked out between the bars of the fence. I painted a few etegami of it… wishing I could capture the red RED of the petals. This first one features a line, “as unexpected as a tulip,” from a Ted Kooser poem,. Fruit and veggies (38).

How to do etegami. August 7, 2015. Happy Friday to you! Here’s a little cocktail I concocted, using Green Hat gin, from the DC-based distillery New Columbia Distillers. I think I created this drink last December or January, and the fruit I chose then was the tangerine, so easy to find good ones in winter. Not sure why I didn’t post this way back when I painted it. I think I wasn’t happy with the blotchy sumi ink — for some reason the ink I was using earlier this year was rather runny. 2 oz Green Hat Gin.
