Because if we're discussing the latter, I'm going to be a lot more agreeable to your suggestions. If we're discussing the gun laws of the U.S., then I'm going to be pretty obstinate. I've said repeatedly that our Constitution guarantees to us a right. Is the foot in the door to eventual elimination of the right of ownership, as you in the UK should appreciate.
