About Me | The Gallivanting Graduate
https://thegallivantinggraduate.wordpress.com/me
I have the degree, now for the life experience…. My name is Samantha. I’m a UBC graduate with a double major B. Sc. Chem and Psych. I work in HR for a small exploration mining company. Other than job hunting, my interests are working with children, volunteering, and being busy. If I have too much time on my hands, I end up vegging out in front of the computer for hours on end, so I prefer to have a packed schedule. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. I have the degree, now for the life experience…. Job Searching 101 – Paperwork. September 6, 2012. So I have been searching for a job constantly for 3 weeks now… and I’ve had about a billion interviews. (In reality, 8) So I seem to be pretty decent at this first part of the job search process. So I send off my cover letters and resumes, with a jaunty, professional email, and wait. About 50% of the time I get a phone call, and that’s where the problems begin. Until then, happy travels,. September 1, 2012.
Working Girl | The Gallivanting Graduate

I have the degree, now for the life experience…. I graduated in May 2012 with a B.Sc. in Chemistry, and a second major in Psychology (Arts, not Science). Then I went away to Uganda to work for three months, which you can read about here. After much reflection on the experience, and what I enjoyed and didn’t enjoy, I decided that my plan to be a high school Chemistry teacher was something that was going to have to change. Or at least be postponed. Turns out HR is awesome, and something I am passionate abo...

I have the degree, now for the life experience…. Being accepted into UBC’s Go Global program was actually the catalyst for the blog’s creation. I have wanted to travel to Africa to do some sort of humanitarian work there for as long as I can remember. It started with the Journey of Hope. Book duo by Lurlene McDaniel, and blossomed through high school and university. I watched my friends go on similar trips to various places around the globe, but the timing never seemed quite right for me. You are comment...
The Job Hunt | The Gallivanting Graduate

I have the degree, now for the life experience…. September 1, 2012. I graduated in May (Although didn’t actually do the whole walk-across-the-stage thing, since I was almost a month into my Ugandan adventure at that point – my father was not pleased) and now that I’m back for Uganda, I am starting my job search in earnest. Unfortunately, even entry-level positions require office experience, which is a little hypocritical since they are “entry level”. But, I’ll just keep trying! Newer post →. Fill in your...

The Gallivanting Duck. | This WordPress.com site is the bee's knees
This WordPress.com site is the bee's knees. A Spring Clean…. A lot of it was probably down to hibernation – the winter makes us slow and sluggish, and the only thing you want to do is huddle with a bowl of soup/chilli/curry and sleep early with a bottle of wine. However, now that the sun’s coming out more (at least… today), and I’m feeling like it’s time to start coming out of the hibernation shell! Moved in with Will’s parents for a bit (home cooked food! But we’re getting back in to the swing of ...
thegallivantingflea | Hop along with me!!!!
Hop along with me! Mary king’s close. On my way back to my room I had lunch at The Malt Shovel there i met a girl Jamie from Australia who taught me about the money here and tipping. I had the steak and ale pie. You could taste the ale in the sauce inside the pie it was a brown gravy almost tasting like the gravy from beef stew. Dad Madigan you’ll be happy to know I had water to drink. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. September 17, 2013. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. September 14, 2013.
The Gallivanting Girl | Part fact, part fiction but all killer, no filler
Part fact, part fiction but all killer, no filler. August 17, 2015. August 14, 2015. My favourite book is ‘ The Secret History’ by. The Secret History is a phenomenal book. There is a lot to take in. So many complex themes. A brief lesson in Ancient Greek. Also the explanation to me (at last) of what a Bacchanal was. My life finally made sense! I also want to say that I think that gloriously awful movie ‘I know what you did last summer’ might have ripped off the entire plot. This is Spinal Tap. Is obviou...

Posted on August 12, 2015. My Uncle’s went to an auction Saturday-not sure what all I have, but there appears to be three kilns, lots of furniture, lots of cones, a slip sink, and maybe a slip mixer in my possession now that they got for a song. Great way to start a Monday. Posted on August 10, 2015. Posted on August 4, 2015.

The Gallivanting Goat Monkey
The Gallivanting Goat Monkey. The secret life of a climber and recreational endurance athlete who dabbles in the realm of sports science. Tuesday, July 22, 2014. Discovery: I'm like a Tapeworm! I knew right away when I first stepped onto the side of a cliff that I was not. My second day rappelling. Also the same day I climbed the first time, but on a much easier cliff. The age of large boots, high-rise jeans, and leather gloves. I soon would discover that there is a place about 8 feet up a cliff in which...

Scandal on Ben Nevis | Our gallivanting journals
Scandal on Ben Nevis. Mdash; Leave a comment. With us the bus was full of French tourists going to the same place as us, as an organised group. They were super annoying, and we thought it was very inconsiderate of the company to use public bus as their personal transport for their groups. On the couple of stops along the way where people wanted to get in, they had problems accommodating them. Hveradalir – Gina & halo. Is it going all downhill from here?
