The New Smiths: Next time, Tinkerbell stays home
http://www.thenewsmiths.com/2014/04/next-time-tinkerbell-stays-home.html
Sunday, April 20, 2014. Next time, Tinkerbell stays home. We managed to make it to church this morning and we were EARLY. That never happens. The kids even sat still for the entire service. The most out of line thing they did was Lily clapped and cheered after every song and Cora brought her Tinkerbell doll up to the front during the children's sermon. (Side note: We decided that Tinkerbell, being a fairy, was a bit pagan. We got exactly zero. I hope your Easter was a bubble-filled wonderland!

The New Smiths: January 2014

Friday, January 24, 2014. Parts of Parenting I Suck At. This is the first in what could possibly be a series. I'm ok with that. Today, the girls had followup doctor appointments at noon from last week's bout of bronchiolitis/croup/ear infections. What a well planned/prepared/on top of it parent would do:. Pack a healthy, balanced, easy to eat in the car lunch for each kid. What I did instead:. Go through McDonald's drive-thru and get a chicken nugget happy meal for the girls to split. That we (I) were co...

The New Smiths: October 2013

Friday, October 11, 2013. The least exciting excitement. We've been a bit busy round these parts lately. A large part of the past 2 weeks' activities have revolved around our HVAC system. Yep, riveting stuff. The new furnace is propane, which means we now have a giant propane tank in our yard. The day they came to put it in, the girls were all about watching. Not much happens 'round these parts. This new furnace is probably 1/4 the size (and QUIETER! Today, they come to run the line for the propane to th...

Wednesday, June 4, 2014. Camp Throwback 2014 Recap. 1 I was a wee bit late. 2. Because that was my suitcase when I should have been driving. 3. Brittany is a crafty lady. Oh it's just this amazing place where 100 strangers meet in the woods to drink, make friendship bracelets, and try to be the first person out in dodgeball. At least that's what I did. Ashley and I made a little side trip to the ol' WC. I'll *own* the 3-legged race! I also got to hang out with a few. Bloggers and hear some stories that d...

Tuesday, August 27, 2013. Baby Gear I Actually Used (Alternate Title: Don't Buy That Other Crap). We are done having babies. D.O.N.E. Lily is starting to finally sleep through the night at 14 months and I'd like my newly-found stretches of uninterrupted sleep to stick around for forever. However, I'm not opposed to becoming an Auntie. I'm actually all set to become one in early February. Yes, my sister is having a baby! Let's get started. Keep in mind that I'm pretty cheap. Pack and Play - Both girls sle...

The New Smiths: September 2013

Monday, September 16, 2013. Do you like lost things, mommy? Aka Fall Mantle for less than $5. Cora has a bit of a Tinkerbell obsession. It's the only "girly" Disney movie I'll allow her to watch. My reasoning is that Tinkerbell has a job and her story isn't a "waiting for the boy" story. I do have some concerns about the practicality of her outfit in her line of work though. But didn't have the time to actually go to JoAnn's and buy them. Instead, I found this project on Craft-O-Maniac. I wrapped yarn ar...

The New Smiths: March 2014
http://www.thenewsmiths.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 11, 2014. St Patrick's Day Mantle. We're in a season full of what I think of as "the lesser holidays." No gifts are exchanged, there isn't really a special meal, cards aren't expected. Lesser holidays don't get much pomp and circumstance in regards to the 'ol mantle decor. Can you guess what's in the spilled bucket in the middle? It's a combination of a beaded Christmas garland (for height/bulk) and CHOCOLATE COINS! Decorating with food like this is usually pretty cheap and easy to find.
