http://face-the-strange.blogspot.com/2008/06/my-garden-friends.html
Wednesday, June 18, 2008. Ruby found a lady bug in the garden today. I love lady bugs. They're so kick ass, eating all those nasty aphids up. I finished the short story I've been working on. I'd love to have a couple of beta readers if anyone is interested. Just comment, or send me a note to shauntagrimes at gmail dot com. It's a little on the spicy side, so be forewarned. Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes: March 2008
http://face-the-strange.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 24, 2008. I've decided to try an experiment. Free shipping out of my Etsy shop until the end of the month. I'm leaving on my monthly shopping trip to Las Vegas on Wednesday morning, and I want to clear out some space by selling some things. Also, I want to drum up some excitement so that people will come see my new finds. I also found a new source for cool stuff. I can barely contain myself! How was everyone's Easter? Friday, March 21, 2008. Meet the Robinsons made me tear up. Seriously...

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes: February 2008
http://face-the-strange.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 29, 2008. I made my first sale on Etsy yesterday. I'm so glad someone bought something in the first day. Now I don't have to agonize over whether or not I'm going to sell the van load of things I bought in Las Vegas over the last weekend. Here's what I sold:. A pair of Gucci shoes. So I'll take some pictures today and see where it all leads. Cross your fingers that it doesn't all lead right back to being a full-time substitute, huh? Thursday, February 28, 2008. 4 There is power in differ...

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes: Independance Days Update
http://face-the-strange.blogspot.com/2008/06/independance-days-update.html
Monday, June 9, 2008. Late again. Sorry! 2 Harvest something: Not yet. 3 Preserve something: Not yet. 4 Prep something: I bought a huge box of plant pots from the local thrift store for a dollar. I cleaned out the winter clothes from the closets and dressers. I'm determined that summer is here, no matter what the weather does! 5 Cook something: We didn't eat out this week at all. Big deal around here. I've started a list of the baked goods I want to make for the farmer's market in August. I go on a major...

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes: The Hoo-Hoo Bird Lives Outside My Window
http://face-the-strange.blogspot.com/2008/06/hoo-hoo-bird-lives-outside-my-window.html
Wednesday, June 11, 2008. The Hoo-Hoo Bird Lives Outside My Window. A couple of weeks ago, I was going out to my car and was nearly dive-bombed by a hummingbird. The little flash of green dashed back and forth from the elm tree in our front yard to a corner of my house three times in thirty seconds. So I went to see what she was up to. And low and behold, I found this nest:. That smart little bird built her nest around the wire. Amazing. Anyway. Ruby loves this little hoo-hoo bird. This is the best I cou...

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes: Wooo...Garden!
http://face-the-strange.blogspot.com/2008/06/wooogarden.html
Sunday, June 8, 2008. I am coming out of my skin with excitement. For real. Yes, it doesn't take much to excite me. But-. Kevin went and bought the supplies to build me a raised bed. See? The bed is made of cinder block and filled with good, rich soil. I filled in all the holes of the cinder blocks, as well as five tires I've collected to use as planters. Four zucchini, four broccoli, four watermelon, and eight cabbage. I would love to have a salsa garden as well. Right this minute, I have an empty canva...

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes: April 2008
http://face-the-strange.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 30, 2008. I feel inspired today. I don't really know why. I just feel today like anything is possible. It's a good place to be. So I am collecting our recyclables and I'll be trucking them down with us every month. Is that extreme? For whatever reason, humans developed with the ability to think and invent and we are definitely supposed to use that ability, IMO. But we are also supposed to be responsible and try to make our impact as positive as possible. Maybe we'll be the only r...Tonig...

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes: July 2007
http://face-the-strange.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 2, 2007. We finally FINALLY found a suitable place to rent. Twenty-four people applied for it, and the owner picked us. It felt like winning the lottery. Seriously. I'm on a bit of a rampage right now about getting out of debt. We have to just buckle down and do it, or we'll never be able to buy a house. So we'll do that while we sit back in our little duplex and wait out the market. It feels like total freedom to not feel pressured into buying something- ANYTHING. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes: May 2008
http://face-the-strange.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 30, 2008. I've decided that I'm going to shop a different way. I'm going to shop a'la Tightwad Gazette. Remember that book? It's one of my favorites. I have the big compilation book and look at it often. In it, the author talks about how her husband shops (shopped? For them and their six kids by the stock-up method. They only buy what they need to refill their stock and they buy according to loss leaders at the stores. Here's my take on it:. 8 1-pound things of ground turkey. Gas is $4.21...
