Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Somewhere between the dream we've followed and the home we've left is the road we walk. We journey this road by faith, knowing that whether it leads us to the valley of death or into green pastures, God is always our guide. This blog is for those who walk that road. Honestly though, the best part for me was our time we spent in the Word. We read the whole Gospel of John in pairs together, out in the woods (it got really cold! I got really sad on my way home because Daniel is gone now. I'm excited for his new phase of life, but I'm going to miss him a LOT. Not that missing people is new for me, but I do get really tired of it sometimes. Reasons why I'm excited about life right now:. Leland is coming home tonight! We got the heat turned on at our house. As is el Día d...

The Harvester's Field: Kids
http://theharvestersfield.blogspot.com/2008/11/kids.html
Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Right now I am reading a book on parenting called Romancing Your Child’s Heart. Swan, M.), don’t worry, I’m not thinking about being a parent any time soon! It’s actually for my Family and Youth Ministry class. Something in it struck me concerning the way we might be treating our children, not only the parents but people like me who, to a considerable extent, have an influence on children in our churches today. Off The Beaten Path: Are You Ready To Go?
http://less-traveled-road.blogspot.com/2010/07/are-you-ready-to-go.html
Are You Ready To Go? I wasn't watching the clock, I was just sitting, relaxing, and minding my own business. Suddenly I looked up and my family was at the door ready. Jessica looked and said, "It's time. Are you ready to go? As I listen to that parable, I think about the sorrow of not being ready when one's time is up, when one's number is called. We never know when God will return. We never know when our time will come. What we do know is that today is the day for faithfulness and obedience.

Stranger in a Foreign Land: Houston, cell phones, and vitamins
http://brettincasie.blogspot.com/2011/02/houston-cell-phones-and-vitamins.html
Houston, cell phones, and vitamins. So, as you may remember, I went to Houston for a few days to see Julieta Venegas in concert with my brother Joseph and got to see my sister Lerin, her family, and my parents as an awesome bonus. It was really fun! Four days went by really quickly, although the plane rides seemed awfully long with excruciating ear pain and a stomachache, but hey, I survived! Stranger in a Foreign Land: enemies
http://brettincasie.blogspot.com/2011/01/enemies.html
I had a spiritual epiphany yesterday at work. You remember how a long long time ago I said that I prayed before I went to work, that I would do well and be a blessing and so on? Well, I haven't done that in awhile. It became normal I guess. This isn't the first time I've done this, but this time, I instantly repented. I thought, what does it accomplish to call this woman something ugly behind her back and complain about her to everyone else? And what about that makes me anything like Christ?

Stranger in a Foreign Land: 01.11
http://brettincasie.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Today, I started by writing this: "I want the music I make and poems I write and art I create to instill a longing for something more in the listeners, readers, and viewers - I want them to want heaven. I think most good music does that without even trying, even if the artist is unaware. I just want to acknowledge that from the start.". Sometimes, all it takes is an iced soy latte from Starbucks to remind me that I'm so happy to be alive. And I'm extremely excited to enroll in school this fall. Tyler...

Family time, snow, and Mexico. Thanksgiving is coming up, and although I'm going home in just a couple of weeks for Christmas and although I have great friends to spend the holiday with and although this isn't the first Thanksgiving I've spent away, it still is a bit sad to miss out on family time this week. I really did mean to write a blog before I left a couple of weeks ago, mostly about our crazy snow and missing work and no power and fun snow walks and friendly visits and so on. but I never did. I would have also loved to tell you about the Albino show (jazzy jam band fire tribe performances). but there's wasn't time. So now you get to hear about my trips instead. In the village, we:. Said hi to everyone and played with the kids. Sang and read some scriptures with Jinko. We got to experience some of the...
