Carl Whitehead Ultrarunner: November 2012
http://carlwhitehead.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Start of the Pennine 100. Sunday, 25 November 2012. Beacons Ultra - the tour of a fool over Tor y Foel. I was both looking forward to and a bit concerned about running the Beacons Ultra again this year as last year I was not in a good place with my fitness/health something that was reflected in the fact that it took me nearly 9 hours to complete the course. Having recovered from whatever was wrong with me (and we never did get to the bottom of it), I have had six months of steady build up. By my Garmin, ...

Carl Whitehead Ultrarunner: September 2011
http://carlwhitehead.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Start of the Pennine 100. Sunday, 25 September 2011. My second blood test came back with similar results to the first – with my bilirubin on the high side and my white blood cells on the low, although both levels showed some improvement. I am going to review the plan at week 8 and my doctor is going to take some more blood samples, this time to test a host of other things and to check my red blood cells. Hopefully this will give us some answers! Lastly, I did an Instructor’s course on suspension tr...

Carl Whitehead Ultrarunner: March 2012
http://carlwhitehead.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Start of the Pennine 100. Wednesday, 28 March 2012. Over the last few months my running has been going from strength to strength, so it should come as no surprise that I should reach a point when my body says ‘I need a rest’ as it did last Friday when Justin, Gareth and I went for a three hour run. We had a good 18 mile route planned and thought we could just add a few extra twists and turns to increase it to a possible maximum of 22 miles. I need to be able to do a good 5 hour run before I choose the ul...

The action you need to carry out, to follow to the letter and not forget to do EVERY. Week is …. Deep down we know i...

Carl Whitehead Ultrarunner: August 2011
http://carlwhitehead.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Start of the Pennine 100. Tuesday, 16 August 2011. Back into training proper …. The answer to this is yes …. and no! Monday, 1 August 2011. I have had a few rubbish runs over the last few months when I have felt a significant drop in my energy levels. I'm not sure if this is viral or just age creeping up on me! I've have had some blood tests done to see if there are any underlying problems and the results will take a week or so. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). 6-10 miles, including 4x1 mile at TMP. 9 miles, ...

Carl Whitehead Ultrarunner: July 2011
http://carlwhitehead.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Start of the Pennine 100. Friday, 22 July 2011. I can't believe it is a whole year since I've managed to post anything on my blog BUT my radio silence has been for good reason. I've spent the last year completing my personal training qualifications and setting up a business. Although I have been keeping up with my own fitness regime I have had to take a step back from the ultra scene as the four or five hour training runs just haven't been possible. Watch this space .
