What I'm wearing to a last minute Christmas party - The Sequinist

http://thesequinist.com/last-minute-christmas-party

What I’m wearing to a last minute Christmas party. A few months ago. They have some pretty outrageous things, so you certainly never have to worry about someone else showing up in the same dress as you are wearing. Only choose their tamest items! You might remember the other dress. I was a little concerned about the length so I ordered a large instead of my usual medium. It was a mistake because not only is it. Too short, but it is also too big and wide! Because nothing says Christmas like palm trees!

An Evening in Monochrome at the Palais-Royal - The Sequinist

http://thesequinist.com/monochrome-at-the-palais-royal

An Evening in Monochrome at the Palais-Royal. I do love a dress with pockets. I recently bought a black shift dress. Remember back in the summer when I blogged about the Winser London Little Red Dress. That so many of you liked? Well, in that post I said I was going to buy it in black for the winter and wear it with my cream silk blouse (which I also own and adore in navy. So here I am following through with it! Both items pack brilliantly, so I brought them to Paris with me last week. Here is a close up...

Trick or Treat, Skin Masks for Transitional Weather. REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask. When the shadows get longer and the weather gets cooler, my sensitive and highly-reactive skin goes from oily to dry. All summer I fight oil and breakouts. All winter, I fight dehydration and patches of eczema. In October, I fight both oil. My favourite trick which works on both the dryness my current small rash-like spots is the REN Glycolic Radiance Renewal Mask, which I discovered this summer. At checkout for U...

The Beauty Boomer: It's been over a year. Where have I been?

http://poppisima.blogspot.com/2015/07/its-been-over-year-where-have-i-been.html

They'll have to pry the lipstick out of my cold, dead hand. Wednesday, July 15, 2015. It's been over a year. Where have I been? I swear. Except very busy with non-internet, real-life, 3-D stuff, and not the kind of 3-D stuff that comes out of those fancy printers. 1) Gained weight. (Boo! Working on getting rid of it. 4) Realized that I am officially pushing 60. 5) Started using eye cream on the regular, instead of just when I get a sample. 7) Fell back in love with my Clarisonic Mia, because it turns out...

The Beauty Boomer: My vintage Chanel jumbo flap in action

http://poppisima.blogspot.com/2014/03/my-vintage-chanel-jumbo-flap-in-action.html

They'll have to pry the lipstick out of my cold, dead hand. Wednesday, March 05, 2014. My vintage Chanel jumbo flap in action. Every year my pal Bunky gives a Valentine's Day tea party at the Ritz for all of "his ladies." We are all requested to wear red. This year I didn't have a red dress or suit to wear, so I made do with a red and white mini-check shirt and a red cashmere cardigan. Red lips and nail polish, of course. I lunched with the two other ladies pictured here, and we had a terrific time.

June 22, 2016. Fashion, as a community, is not age inclusive. The models are all barely out of high school and the imagery we are constantly fed reinforces the idea that you can’t trust anyone over 35. Hell, I’ll be 32 in August and even I feel out of place in an industry obsessed with telling women over 29 what they can and cannot wear. Thankfully, Lisa, the beautiful face behind The. Well, now you know. Keep scrolling to learn all about Lisa in her own words. You might know me from. I had no idea of th...

The Beauty Boomer: I bought beauty crappe at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

http://poppisima.blogspot.com/2015/07/i-bought-beauty-crappe-at-nordstrom.html

They'll have to pry the lipstick out of my cold, dead hand. Sunday, July 19, 2015. I bought beauty crappe at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Of course I did. I didn't go mental with color, though- just one thing. The Guerlain "rainbow ballz.". Guerlain Les Météorites Summer Edition Perles, exclusive to Nordstrom. They give a nice glow and aren't as crazy pearly/glittery as some other Guerlain limited edition ballz, so yeah. Nice! But not necessary unless you have a thing for violet-scented prettiness.

The Beauty Boomer: Why scooping up weird shit at sales might not be such a terrible thing.

They'll have to pry the lipstick out of my cold, dead hand. Thursday, June 26, 2014. Why scooping up weird shit at sales might not be such a terrible thing. I talked to blackbird. Yesterday and heard about her accident. And it made me want to blog again. Yes, I realize that sounds bad. "Internet, if you want me to blog, you have to almost get hit by a car and break your wrist in multiple places.". Is a little lacking in drama. Colors (classic Color Me Beautiful. They'll have to pry the lipstick out of my cold, dead hand. Monday, March 01, 2010. The Beauty Boomer Manifesto. Hello, invisible internet friends! I have a confession to make. I'm older than you are. I'm 53, and at 53, I have to work twice as hard and spend twice the money and time to look half as good as I did when I was 27. Well, I have two options; I can continue to fight the good fight, or I can give up. I plan to keep fighting. Here's the deal: age and hipness do not have to co-relate. It takes wor...

How to Let Go of the Old and Embrace the New. Living in the Moment. September 1, 2016. September 1, 2016. This year has been hard so far. I have lost my mother, dear friends and have seen others suffer with terminal illness. It is true that I am in no way unique. Everyone, everywhere confronts the same challenges everyday. The Beauty Boomer: Aging disgracefully

http://poppisima.blogspot.com/2015/07/aging-disgracefully.html

They'll have to pry the lipstick out of my cold, dead hand. Thursday, July 16, 2015. People, I am frankly tired of the crap old ladies get. Particularly on the internet. Wow, she's eighty and she still cares about clothes! Why shouldn't she care about clothes? Do you expect her to go out naked? First of all, these commenters act like they own the internet, which hello, they're only using because of geezers like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Richard Stallman- baby boomers all. Used "OL" as the ne plus ultra.

Friday, August 14, 2015. We attended Make-A-Wish's Wine and Wishes 2015 last evening. Such an amazing event. We'll definitely be attending again next year. And bonus, it was our dear friend's birthday last night too so we did a whole lotta celebrating for a good cause. I know better than to stray from my favorite mascara, but I did it anyway. I won't be throwing it out, but it will go into my drawer of "in case of emergencies" pile under the sink. Don't bother with this one, ladies. Well, we sure did!

Sunday, 12 July 2015. Rainbows wept colour all over the street. I love you in the mirror, I love the first thing to touch the thinnest layer of skin stretched taut over my hipbones, the first thing to sigh at the pattern of dents in my ribcage. What happens to the ones who love with such conviction, did you know I loved furiously? I'm having a panic attack. What more could I do, darling, what more could I do? Monday, 8 June 2015. A blog about knitting, pretty wool and life in general! August 14, 2015. August 14, 2015. This week has been a mixture of good and bad. The good part is that I finished the first sleeve for the burgundy jumper, wahoo! It looks good eh! I folded it so you can see the top and bottom of it which are the most interesting bits. However, when I went to my stash to get more wool to make the next sleeve, this is what I found:. I only have three small balls left! Had she gone out of business? This week with CFS.
