Across My Kitchen Table: March 2013

http://acrossmykitchentable.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 12, 2013. This Past Week at My House. Spring is just around the corner! This past week I have worked on a place for a corner desk I bought a year ago. I haven't been able to find it a home where I will actually use it. This week I placed it in a corner of the living room. This is the livingroom without the desk. I put the recliner on the other side of the room, took away the sofa table, placed the desk where the recliner used to be, and added a picture above the table/lamp. Bake at 350 deg...

Monday, September 5, 2016. Summer Memories in Your Own Backyard. When I was a child, we didn't have many vacations. Most of our vacations were going to my grandparents house where we would spend time with our cousins. Those are now some of the most precious memories I have. No exotic localities with spectacular entertainment. Just kickball games, popsicles, and family. They were awesome times. He was not happy about seeing me, but he loves the pool. When his mommy showed up he was all smiles for her.

Thursday, January 23, 2014. The Interloper Cat Learns From The Queen Cat. Queen Cat Meets the Interloper Cat, Part Two). The Queen Cat was quite pleased to show off some of her Queen behaviors to The Interloper Cat. This Cat would never be staying in her territory and would never be a threat to her. Besides, the Non-Cats in her territory were terribly boring right now. You then observe the food bowls to make sure no interloper is nearby before approaching". You are just observing my skills! Can I try it?

Wednesday, August 29, 2012. Last of Summer - Two New Recipes. When I wrote my last post, Blogspot would not let me complete it. I may be finding a new home for my blog. The garden this summer was a dismal failure. What started out with such promise, quickly became a disaster. Here the garden was thriving. Here is what it looked like several weeks later. Last year I had a bumper crop of cucumbers, and this year I only got one. All the vines died and these cukes rotted on what vine was left. I made a new p...

Friday, March 30, 2012. This Past Week At My House. I woke up everyday this week not knowing what to wear. Capri's with sandles? Jeans and a sweatshirt? I even got a weather alert on my cellphone calling for "1-3 inches of snow by the afternoon," but it was a mistake. LOL. The Big Beast has found out where we live, and has once again taken up residence in our driveway. We will take it down South, soon. She also made me this adorable Spring door wreath. She got the idea for it off of Pinterest. Billy havi...

Monday, April 23, 2012. This Past Week At My House. This past week I signed up to volunteer at a winery. I was scheduled to work during a wine festival in the Northern Neck of Virginia. It was a long drive to Heathsville, Virginia, but it was nice to get away and do something new and different. The wine festival took place on the grounds of the Historic Rice Hotel/Hughlett's Tavern. This building is the oldest surviving structure in Virginia's Northern Neck. Have a great week! Links to this post. Miss Ca...

Across My Kitchen Table: May 2012

Monday, May 21, 2012. This was the square foot garden, newly planted. And here it is now, 2 1/2 weeks later! I don't remember it growing this fast last year. Perhaps it's all the rain we've had. Other than pulling a weed here and there, and murdering a couple of squash borers, little has been required from me so far. The zucchini leaves are almost bigger than my hand! Isn't this the best part of Spring? Watching the garden grow, is almost as fun as harvesting.but only almost! Links to this post. I have 8...

Saturday, June 16, 2012. A Short Trip to Beantown. We had the opportunity last week to take a short trip to Boston, Massachusetts. I've watched the John Adams mini-series a million times, plus I've read three biographies on both him, and his wife Abigail. So I was intrigued enough to. NEED to see the homes they have there. This is the home where John Adams was born and raised. It sits right next to a busy road. Even when he lived there, it was the main road to Boston. The library was built in 1870. After...

Monday, September 7, 2015. To the place, I belong. We traveled this past weekend to the beautiful state of West Virginia. The destination was Charleston, W.Va., for the (2nd! Armstrong Family Reunion (Organized by Jill! We started by paying homage to those who have gone before us. My brother John and husband Bill walking through the graveyard of beloved family. Their final resting place. Next, we stopped at the old homestead.which is no more. The tidy little homes of yesterday are all gone. But being a p...

Go With Your Gut. Don’t be an idiot like me and follow the recipe to a T for the first time and realize you should have just listened to your gut instinct. So, Tom Ruins All of My Meals. Check your baking soda. Most cookies require baking soda. Believe it or not it can go bad. I don’t like to keep cooking baking soda for longer than a year. It’s often only 69 cents at my local stores so if I don’t use it all throughout the year I won’t cry at having to replace it. Check the color of your baking sheet!
