The Ward Project

Wednesday, 18 May 2011. These are a selection from the final set of embroideries I've been pressing into my pots, they look nice in black and white - I'll pop these in the project book of images I'm making! Friday, 13 May 2011. Friday, 15 April 2011. Working with an audience. There has been studio based chaos this week, I've been doing lots of late nights and had a small crisis midweek, but that's resolved itself now. I'm quite enjoying working with what is now quite the little audience of faces. I had a...

The Ward Project: Working with an audience

http://thewardproject.blogspot.com/2011/04/working-with-audience.html

Friday, 15 April 2011. Working with an audience. There has been studio based chaos this week, I've been doing lots of late nights and had a small crisis midweek, but that's resolved itself now. I'm quite enjoying working with what is now quite the little audience of faces. I'm really pleased the hessian pots, more than the ones which are just embroideries on calico. This is a blog designed to allow me to document my progress, ideas, thoughts and concerns in relation to my ceramics work in the final year of my degree. The Ward Project' is one of investigation, research and discovery and will hopefully inform a body of work developed from this. I hope to be inspired to make a representative form or series to incorporate all of my findings throughout this project.

Kate Ward Design: New life in Stirchley

http://katewarddesign.blogspot.com/2012/09/new-life-in-stirchley.html

Thursday, 20 September 2012. New life in Stirchley. Sorry for my absence recently, we've been very busy moving house and doing all the important things like painting the kitchen green and shed purple! We'd collected so much furniture and bits and bobs between our various houses that by the time we'd got it all in the new house it was filled with things and felt like home pretty quickly. I can't quite believe we actually own it, I still find myself walking from room to room feeling proud of it!

Kate Ward Design: Martha Hollyhock

http://katewarddesign.blogspot.com/2012/09/martha-hollyhock.html

Monday, 24 September 2012. We've spent the weekend decorating our bedroom in Laura Ashley's Martha Hollyhock. Wallpaper and a lovely shade of blue called 'favourite china'. I absolutely love the wallpaper, In my mind it seems to sit neatly somewhere between a 1950s illustrative print and a Del Boy style. Here's a little close up of the paper next to the first wall to be painted. Our room is still in need of a door handle so you have to claw your way out of the room. Only Fools and Horses.

Kate Ward Design: August 2011

http://katewarddesign.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, 21 August 2011. This morning we got up nice and early and went to sell some clutter at Studley Car Boot. The sun was shining and it brought out the buyers as well as the booters! I allowed myself a little wander about and only spent £1.50 in total on a lovely little wind-up gold watch for 50p [which amazingly keeps perfect time! Thursday, 18 August 2011. Charity shopping: Claret coloured tea glasses. I also bought a pair of knitting needles for my lovely friend Jess who I'm teaching to knit for 2...

Kate Ward Design: January 2012

http://katewarddesign.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, 8 January 2012. I found this lovely old tin in the garage - Dad said I could keep it as he didn't even know he owned it! It's a bit battered and worn, but you can mostly still read the branding and the lid still fits on. I decided to do a little ad hock drawing of it. I quite like it actually, so I might do an embroidery. What I didn't realise is t hat Typhoo is a Birmingham brand, and that it was initially used medicinally. The Typhoo website says:. Thursday, 12 July 2012. Watch oil and watch pins for hairsprings. I've been hoarding 'small things' for ages and they've been looking for a home. The printer's tray that J bought me for my birthday will provide a perfect home, as well as giving me even more of an excuse to buy 'small things'. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Kate Ward Design: June 2011

http://katewarddesign.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, 23 June 2011. Another fruitful day of charity shopping on Tuesday. I had to go to Trowbridge to meet with Sarah Kenyon from Trowbridge Museum. To discuss the August Festival and my window display in Fabric Magic. I took full advantage of the charity shops while I was there, and found this brilliant black and Gold jacket. (There's not enough glittery 80's things in my wardrobe! The find of the day had to be this lovely little mustard yellow Sadler jug. A bargain at just 99p! Hand made ceramic je...

There was just so many beautiful things to see! Here she is above looking sunshine-y and happy. I bought these lovely brooches and this lovely old purse for 50p each from Save The Children stall. I especially love the bug brooch! I'm sad that i probably won't be able to keep them all! Wednesday, 27 July 2011. Already exhibited...

The Wardrobe

UK Fashion and Lifestyle Blog. It's been so long since I wrote a blog post that when I went to write this I nearly accidentally started a whole new blog. A lot of people recently have been telling me "you need to start your blog again! And, "i loved your blog! A lot of people recently have also been asking me "so, what are you going to do when you graduate? I turned 21 the other day and this year marks the year that I graduate from uni and finally step into the real adult world. And do you know what?
