Maru Global – Finally, Takoyaki! After my defeat at the Night Market Festival in Chinatown, I was determined to have takoyaki. Takoyaki is a popular Japanese food item and refers to savory pancake balls, usually with grilled octopus cooked inside. The takoyaki is served in, quaintly, takoyaki sauce and Japanese mayonnaise, and the takoyaki also include other toppings such as pickled ginger and fish flakes. Admittedly, my craving for takoyaki was born from the popular anime,. In truth, the inside of.

Back in Philly: Fall Bash! | Chew Slowly!

https://thinkingoutsidetheplate.wordpress.com/2012/11/17/back-in-philly-fall-bash

Back in Philly: Fall Bash! It certainly has been a while! Starting first year of medical school has certainly made me many things, but idle is not one of them. Already three and a half months in, the school scheduled Fall Bash, a social event taking place after hours at Reading Terminal Market, to ease some study stress and appease some adventurous appetites! Oh, and there was a dance floor. Can’t go wrong with dumplings! Jambalaya, nothing better for cold winter-esque temperatures. Spicy! I have been to...

“Not From Around” Kind of Cuisine | Chew Slowly!

8220;Not From Around” Kind of Cuisine. So the “study” bit came back into play, and for a school project I spent a good amount of time in Brick Lane, a vibrant district in East London. In truth, I had been battling with a quiet but pungent feeling of loneliness. You can’t force close relationships, and I’ve learned that more than anything that they must grow organically. And sometimes, being on your lonesome isn’t such a bad thing. Https:/ thinkingoutsidetheplate.wordpress.com/2011/11/15/. Click to share ...

Of Sushi and Letting Go | Chew Slowly!

https://thinkingoutsidetheplate.wordpress.com/2014/09/05/of-sushi-and-letting-go

Of Sushi and Letting Go. Labor Day weekend has always existed in my mind as that last burst of summer before school starts. As a MS-III, clinical rotations have been keeping me busy since early July. Nevertheless, I decided to seize the extra day of rest with both hands and planned a sushi dinner for Friday night. 8221; Even still, it was hard to feel guilty when the prices were reasonable enough to order miso soup, two types of rolls and green tea mochi ice cream for dessert. A Food Adventure for Mexican Food in Philly: La Taqueria! | hungrykoala

https://hungrykoala.wordpress.com/2013/02/18/a-food-adventure-for-mexican-food-in-philly-la-taqueria

Food for a bottomless pit. A Food Adventure for Mexican Food in Philly: La Taqueria! Philadelphia, PA 19147. They have a great bargain: 3 tacos for $6, and you can mix and match! Complimentary house-fried chips were served with two types of salsa: spicy green salsa, and a sweet, red, tomato-based salsa. The spicy green salsa was pretty spicy, even for me. However, I thought both salsas were tasty, fresh, and went well with the chips! Fig 1: Los Tacos: Grilled Steak (Left), Al Pastor (Middle), Pork (Right).

Taiwanese Food Craving | hungrykoala

Food for a bottomless pit. I have been craving Taiwanese food in Philadelphia for a while. My friend recommended Empress Garden (10th&Arch St) in Chinatown for pretty authentic Taiwanese food! An appetizer and three dishes were ordered: Onion pancakes, Taiwanese beef noodle soup, three-cup chicken, and fried pork chops with veggies over rice. Appetizer Onion Pancake 蔥油餅. Onion Pancake 蔥油餅(cong you bing). The fried pork chops were crispy on the outside yet succulent on the inside! Three Cup Chicken 三杯雞.

Food for a bottomless pit. A Taste of Africa: Kilimandjaro Restaurant. Kilimandjaro Restaurant on 43rd St and Chestnut was my amazingly delicious introduction to African cuisine! I loved my experience there– from the nicely decorated interior with traditional African masks hung on deep red walls, to the savory dishes and drinks. Freshly made ginger juice. Lamb chops with a side of fried plantains. A Food Adventure for Mexican Food in Philly: La Taqueria! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

Soon du bu: Korean spicy tofu soup | hungrykoala

https://hungrykoala.wordpress.com/2013/01/29/soon-du-bu-korean-spicy-tofu-soup

Food for a bottomless pit. Soon du bu: Korean spicy tofu soup. Jong Ka Jib’s Menu. Beef, shrimp, clam, oyster tofu soup. Soon du bu and rice. Overall, the food was pretty good. Even though the flavor and soon du bu was tasty, I got kind of bored of eating the same thing. I have to mention the bad service– the waitress and waiter were both quite rude and unfriendly. I would give Jong Ka Jib a 8/10 for food and 6/10 for service, and I would have to consider coming back again. Cheesecake Factory in KOP.

Food for a bottomless pit. Aki Japanese Fusion and Sake Bar. During Center City sips, I travelled to Aki Sushi on 12. And Walnut for their Happy Hour. The Happy Hour is pretty decent: with off all appetizers, $5 cocktails, $4 wine glasses, and $3 all beers originally priced at $6. To sum up my experience here would be: slow, bad service and average food. Fig 1: Aki Menu, Tropical Passion Cocktail and Cherry Blossom Cocktail. For those who can’t take spicy: don’t eat this dish! Fig 2: Yellowtail Jalapeño.
