So, I'm going to stop making promises about how often I'll be posting.they just don't work! This time it was a combination of work being too exhausting and my sister sending me the link to a Harry Potter trivia game. And subsequently getting completely sucked into the site. Also, my Community DVD. Arrived and there's commentary on every episode! Readers of my other blog.

A Bit of Light Reading: Keeper of the Keys

http://thoughtsonharrypotter.blogspot.com/2010/03/keeper-of-keys.html

A Bit of Light Reading. One blogger's thoughts on the Harry Potter series. Tuesday, March 16, 2010. Keeper of the Keys. To an apartment run by the same property management company I currently rent from! Why am I telling you this? 3 Hagrid mentions the letter Dumbledore left. While it might not be as important as some of the other hints dropped in this chapter, we later discover that the letter Dumbledore left was not for Harry, but for Petunia, and that it was not the first time they had corresponded...

A Bit of Light Reading. One blogger's thoughts on the Harry Potter series. Monday, September 13, 2010. Talons and Tea Leaves. Well, if any of my readers are still around, I'm back! August ended up being a string of health problems (two trips to the emergency room and a trip to my doctor) but I'm finally healthy again! Now, blogger is being really weird, so I'm going to get right into it. Was the last time the time with Hermione there? How do the professors of her other classes know she was there? The tim...

A Bit of Light Reading: June 2010

http://thoughtsonharrypotter.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

A Bit of Light Reading. One blogger's thoughts on the Harry Potter series. Thursday, June 17, 2010. Okay, well I didn't get a lot of comments about the summary. But those that did comment seemed to like it, so I think I'll stick with it, as they're kind of fun to write. I kind of hate this Quiddich game, I don't know what it is about it (maybe the lack of commentary? We probably would have watched the bludger attack from Ron and Herminoe's point of view. It's no secret that Quiddich is a dangerous game.

A Bit of Light Reading: The Dementor

http://thoughtsonharrypotter.blogspot.com/2010/08/dementor.html

A Bit of Light Reading. One blogger's thoughts on the Harry Potter series. Wednesday, August 18, 2010. Alright, I am back! I'm not completely healed, but I'm better enough that pain is not the foremost thing on my mind. Though I do continue to rock a look very similar to this. Ah well, enough about my accident-prone self, let's get back to Harry! This chapter is full of foreshadowing and setups for later; the sneakoscope and Crookshanks both freaking out when Scabbers is nearby, the effect the dementors ...

A Bit of Light Reading: Aunt Marge's Big Mistake

http://thoughtsonharrypotter.blogspot.com/2010/07/aunt-marges-big-mistake.html

A Bit of Light Reading. One blogger's thoughts on the Harry Potter series. Wednesday, July 28, 2010. Aunt Marge's Big Mistake. While in some ways, this could be a good opportunity to talk about the Trace again. There will be better ones in the future, so just know that this is another chapter that makes my head hurt the the wacky Trace rules. Apparently, he could take the time to look up the word "git" but not the time to look up the word "bitch" and see that it was being used correctly. I havent read mu...

Thoughts on the Arts: For the love of Sci-Fi

http://thoughtsonthearts.blogspot.com/2010/04/for-love-of-sci-fi.html

Thoughts on the Arts. Opinions on whatever I happen to have read, watched, or listened to recently. Saturday, April 17, 2010. For the love of Sci-Fi. I admit it, I totally judge books by their covers. While killing time in a Borders in early March, I came across a book with an intriguing cover called Your Hate Mail will be Graded. So, I made the decision to pick up some Sci-Fi novels and, of course, I started with Scalzi's. So far I've read 1 1/2 of his 4 book Old Man's War. April 17, 2010 at 8:43 PM.

Thoughts on the Arts: Merlin

http://thoughtsonthearts.blogspot.com/2009/06/merlin.html

Thoughts on the Arts. Opinions on whatever I happen to have read, watched, or listened to recently. Wednesday, June 24, 2009. I better get this in before tonight's SYTYCD! Last Sunday, NBC premiered the BBC series Merlin. First of all, I'm incredibly excited that instead of make a crappier American version of a popular BBC series (the norm nowadays), NBC imported the series itself, meaning we get authentic accents and locations. Disney's The Sword in the Stone. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Jana Ol...

thoughts on grails

Friday, December 13, 2013. How to authenticate to grails from R using RCurl. The trick is to open the login page before actually trying to post the login data. Thoughts On Guns

Just a regular gun nerd shares his thoughts and opinions with the world. Monday, March 17, 2014. Cobra's new polymer 380: The Cobra Denali. As some of you readers might now, I moderate a forum dedicated to Saturday Night Specials and other inexpensive guns. A few days ago, one of the forum users posted pictures of Cobra's newest offering called the Denali. I'm curious to see how the Cobra Denali is put together. The design utilizes a fixed barrel that's pressed into the frame and held in place with a...

Musings on henna and life. December 15, 2012. November 8, 2012. This is a friend’s foot that I henna-ed a few days ago. It is a pattern I’ve done tons of times, but I still loved doing it. November 6, 2012. 8217;Flounging’ is a mixture of the words fashion and lounging. A friend came up with it and I liked it a lot. I now use it to describe anyone who is wearing comfy clothes but also looks nice. What church will Aaron (my husband who also graduated last May) be called to? What state will we live in?

Trouble with Healthcare Ratings and Reports. Today Consumer Reports announced it’s new safety ratings report. How do we interpret this?

Thoughts on Healthcare

December 30, 2013. A Reflection on Healthcare’s Big Year. It’s that wonderful time when everyone is encouraged, simply by the calendar’s mark of another year’s end, to reflect. I’m kind of a sucker for recaps and reflection myself, and it has been a huge (and fun) year in healthcare. Be up, and if Covered California. Found that the US has seen a significant increase in early-stage disease without a proportional decline in later-stage disease and mortality. “Patients are being diagnosed and trea...Let me ...
