FIONA DEMPSTER - CALLIGRAPHIC AND BOOK ARTIST. Thursday, July 30, 2015. 8220;People think of education as something they can finish.”. I love this thought! I have had great role models - both my parents were the first in their families to attend university; both had careers; and then both went back and did further degrees in their fifties and sixties. And started new careers! I love that learning continues for ever and that there is still so much to explore and understand. Posted by Fiona Dempster. One o...

Charlton Stitcher: January 2015
http://charltonstitcher.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Working with mixed media stitched textiles gives me great pleasure. As well as the joy in the art of making and exploring, there are the friendships formed as work grows. Wednesday, 28 January 2015. Back and front stitched sketch. I have been experimenting with stitch since Christmas. Several ideas are running around in my head, all seeming still to involve black and white at the moment, with just occasional splashes of colour from time to time. Sunday, 25 January 2015. January, with all its cold greynes...

http://charltonstitcher.blogspot.com/2015/07/playing-with-pixels-and-bridges.html
Working with mixed media stitched textiles gives me great pleasure. As well as the joy in the art of making and exploring, there are the friendships formed as work grows. Monday, 27 July 2015. Playing with pixels, windows and bridges. I'm going to eastern Scotland and the Orkney Islands soon and I'm going to take print outs of some images that I've generated as a result of the Pixeladies. I recently found myself buying a small selection of threads from Patricia Wood of Mulberry Silks. I'm still trying to...

Working with mixed media stitched textiles gives me great pleasure. As well as the joy in the art of making and exploring, there are the friendships formed as work grows. Sunday, 28 December 2014. Cotswolds and New Year greetings. Before Christmas, I was so busy preparing for the arrival of family visitors that my intended post didn't appear. We had a wonderful time - busy, noisy and great fun and the grandchildren were a delight as always. Friday, 19 December 2014. Flavour of the year. It has seemed thi...

Million Little Stitches: How I make my Fiber Books
http://millionlittlestitches.blogspot.com/2009/11/how-i-make-my-fiber-books.html
Creative outpourings of the stitch obsessed. Friday, November 13. How I make my Fiber Books. Here's the method I've devised to make the Take it Further Fiber Book and the two volumes of Take a Stitch Tuesday stitch sampler. The Take it Further Fiber Book. Is my first fiber book ever and this is how I went about making the book. Using running stitch I mark the 'pages' on the cloth. Each page has two halves or portions , one on the left and one on the right. Corners of pages must be matched and pinned and ...

fiber art and craft: little Bur oak whorl tablequilt
http://fiberartalmosteveryday.blogspot.com/2015/05/little-bur-oak-whorl-tablequilt.html
Friday, May 29, 2015. Little Bur oak whorl tablequilt. This one's done, washed and dried, crinkle and all. I learned a lot. This was a kind of test for a few construction issues before working towards something much bigger. The biggest leaf is just barely attached to the whole. We can also always use another surface-saving welcome spot for handmade ceramics. If Eva finds it unoccupied we can just start calling it a cat mat. May 29, 2015 at 12:41 PM. May 29, 2015 at 3:11 PM. Hi Tina. Thanks. Linda m in bc.

Million Little Stitches: Monsoon - A Fiber Book
http://millionlittlestitches.blogspot.com/2015/05/monsoon-fiber-book.html
Creative outpourings of the stitch obsessed. Thursday, May 21. Monsoon - A Fiber Book. The fiber book - Monsoon. It's taken longer than expected what with moving house and settling down but I finally got to photograph the little book on my deck this morning. The book is about things I associate with the monsoon season. Monsoon landscape dominated by dark moisture laden nimbus clouds. I choose to eat other meats during the monsoons, it's me doing my bit to give fish stocks a chance to be replenished.
