A glob (or blog, if you will) of tomfoolery and Larking About. Sunday, May 15, 2011. Who really needs a Wii or a giant television with Netflix and surround sound or computers that have terabytes of games and tv episodes and get used almost exclusively for social networking and watching Youtube? Every once in a while, I like to step back and watch a train run over my pocket change. It's just cool. There's no denying it. And then you can do fun stuff with your newly squashed currency! Cover of the Week.

http://tomfooleryandlarkingabout.blogspot.com/2011/05/why-are-new-cars-so-ugly.html
A glob (or blog, if you will) of tomfoolery and Larking About. Saturday, May 14, 2011. Why are new cars so ugly? Is it just me? But it hasn't always been this way! Take, for example, the car my mom had in her twenties vs. the car I have in my twenties. Their nicknames hint at their shapliness, or non-shapliness as it were- my mom's was "The White Knight" (she says this is because it was a Plymouth Valiant, but I would add that it was sexy, too! My mom's 1964 Plymouth Valiant. 1985 (umm, getting colder).

A glob (or blog, if you will) of tomfoolery and Larking About. Monday, April 4, 2011. 5 reasons that public speaking blows if you don't like being the center of attention. 1 You have to talk IN FRONT OF PEOPLE and you are being judged by EVERYONE. 2 Fear of said judgment invariably results in a marked decrease in the ability to sound intelligent and/or articulate, which is counterproductive since that is the very thing for which you're being judged. Now, back to work on my powerpoint. Cover of the Week.

Story Arranging | clothhills

May 31, 2011. I bought Rilke’s, “Duino Elegies and The Sonnets to Orpheus,” last summer from the Elliott Bay Book Company. So, the Eighth Elegy, dedicated to Rudolf Kassner. As translated by Stephen Mitchell. This piece contains the lines that inspired my blog’s subtitle…. With all its eyes the natural world looks out. Into the Open. Only. Backward, and surround plant, animal, child. Like traps, as they emerge into their freedom. We know what is really out there only from. Never, not for a single day, do.

Taking Good Care | clothhills
https://clothhills.wordpress.com/2011/07/17/taking-good-care
July 17, 2011. Hair, fuzz, skin flakes, and dirt collected for weeks on my toilet. As I spent exactly the time needed to brush on mascara and secure my hair in the morning, or to floss and brush my teeth before collapsing into bed at night, I noted the growing filth in my living space. I took pride in it. The dirty corner warmed my heart because I felt no guilt in leaving it dirty. So why would a bacteria garden please me? Because the bacteria garden was. Is this a glass cauliflour? 8220;…the first...

tomfoolery and bright
Monday, 24 September 2012. Tomfoolery and Bright was originally created as a means by which to share what inspires me on a day-to-day basis. That said, I felt that the blog lacked focus. One day I’d write about food, the next day about the Royal family, the next about my favourite hair styles and then on to moisturisers! Tomfoolery and Bright was overdue for an update and more importantly, a clear purpose and definition. I found that the most popular blog posts were those concerning food. I'm finding thi...

As a grad student down at the UF Tropical Aquaculture Lab, I see a lot of fish. Some are small, some large, some are aggressive, and some aren’t, but one species that never fails to entertain and engage is the bullseye snakehead Channa marulius. There are several introduced populations of this species living in the state of Florida at the moment. For anyone who hasn’t electrofish...
