While the Surface Transportation Board (STB) and their environmental consultants will evaluate multiple routes and alternatives, we believe the Colstrip alignment provides needed access to the mine with less impact. The Colstrip route is shorter, 42 miles vs. the original proposed Tongue River route of 83 miles. The Colstrip route does not require a new crossing of I-94. There will be no impacts to the Fish Hatchery.
