Tuesday, May 27, 2008. After lunch I was taking a break and decided to refresh one more time before signing off. "In Stock: YES." WHAT? Two hours ago it was out of stock, and had been for months! OK, breathe- how many, how soon can I get it, should I leave work, who do I know up there (IKEA is about 90 minutes away), what if it's a computer glitch? Refresh 16 more times- OK, it's true. At 4 PM IKEA confirms that they have 19 cribs in stock. 19! So here it is, the final piece to go in the IKEA nursery:.

Friday, November 30, 2007. It's a wonder what a little food will do for you! I spent most of Thursday with various doctors and technicians, after feeling really crappy all week. Wednesday, May 17, 2006. Our neighborhood was a real community. Today, I don't see that same type of community in my area of SoCal. There are many single-parent families. Most women work outside the home. Unfortunately, land is at such a premium that most people don't have yards for large gatherings. Kids are in day care and participate in organized activities like dance or sports. However, the need for "community" seems to be as strong as ever. We are just finding new and creative ways to build them.
