We wake up this night at 11pm and dress in all layers (3 shirts, 3 jackets, 3 pairs of pants, 2 pair socks, 2 pair gloves, beanie, buff and hiking boots. Have to store camera batteries inside our pockets to prevent them from freezing. Water bottles have to put upside down and blow into camelback tube in order to prevent tube from freezing.

Where Is Scott – Travel Blog. Travel geek and adventure connoisseur. Greetings fellow traveler (or most likely a member of my family)! As I embark on yet another travel adventure, I stop to tell you a little about myself. Why? Because you clicked on this page! When not heeding the Call of the Wild, I am disguised as a mild mannered software developer. I have dreams (but not yet the courage) to go freelance and work abroad as I travel. Dare I? Talk me into it (please! It may happen yet, we’ll see.

Where Is Scott – Travel Blog. Travel geek and adventure connoisseur. March 23, 2014. By Travels by Scott. Here is a brief bullet pointed list of our week in Paris (rented an apartment in St Martin) and the final 3 days in Copenhagen followed by some highlight photos. The full album can be seen by clicking here. Caught the High Speed to Paris. This really was a high speed. I clocked it using an app on my phone at 186 mph! Went grocery shopping in a small store with a tiny elevator. Patty went to the Louvre.

Where Is Scott – Travel Blog. Travel geek and adventure connoisseur. Run Slow Die Fast (or, A Safari in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater). April 12, 2015. By Travels by Scott. Mandatory cute baby monkey picture to start it off. Shot these guys at the entrance to Tarangire NP. How do elephants scratch their butts do you ask? Why on a Baobab tree of course. A herd of zebras below the Tanzanian sky. This guy was keeping himself cool by flapping his ears. Shortly after seeing this guy it struck me what a ...

Rostro de Cristo in Ecuador: August 2010

http://rostrodecristo.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 12, 2010. Orientation Comes to a Close. Trembling out of Bed. Trembling out of Bed. I experienced my first earthquake this morning! That goodness Jenn and Marita woke me up, or I would have snored straight through it. We must be pretty far from the epicenter because it was just a minute of minor shaking. What a way to start the day! We ended at Las Peñas, a lighthouse downtown, which looks over the entire city. The day wore all of us out. But gave us a much needed tour of the city.

Rostro de Cristo in Ecuador: February 2009

http://rostrodecristo.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 13, 2009. Allowing ourselves to be nourished. How do you ever get even with them if you can´t give them anything in return? The generosity and love that is poured out for us, in allowing ourselves to be humbled in a way that we are not used to and not always comfortable with. Sort of like God´s love, right? I mean, who among us thinks that we´ll eventually be able to ´get even´ with the love shown to us through the creation, redemption, and sanctification of humanity? The Face of Christ.

Rostro de Cristo in Ecuador: The Violence of Love

http://rostrodecristo.blogspot.com/2011/04/violence-of-love.html

Thursday, April 14, 2011. The Violence of Love. Easter is itself now the cry of victory. No one can quench the life that Christ has resurrected. Neither death nor all the banners of death and hatred raised against him and against his church can prevail. He is the victorious one! Just as he will thrive in an unending Easter, so we must accompany him in a Lent and a Holy Week of cross, sacrifice, and martyrdom. As he said, blessed are they who are not scandalized by his cross. Oscar Romero, March 23, 1980.

Rostro de Cristo in Ecuador: June 2009

http://rostrodecristo.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 30, 2009. I was sitting in church the other night, enjoying the pleasant breeze that drifts through the open rafters above the lit up auditorium of a holy space, when it dawned on me that love is a choice. This past week I got to host my second retreat group, a lovely bunch of high school girls from Magnificat in Ohio. They were a joy, bursting with the excitement and curiosity and passion that our elders gladly smile upon to see coming up as tomorrow´s leaders. It can be easy to see Christ...

Rostro de Cristo in Ecuador: July 2009

http://rostrodecristo.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 23, 2009. I spent last weekend at Playas Beach with my community and with 2 former volunteers, Mike and Jill, who flew down to direct our last community retreat of the year. Our last retreat.the fourth out of four.so hard to believe. I remember loading up the van in November to head to Crucita or our first retreat of the year. What a different place I was in then! Someday you won't be living in the same house anymore! Hey, stop complaining about what your mom made for dinner! I love my job!

Rostro de Cristo in Ecuador: August 2009

http://rostrodecristo.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 23, 2009. It´s a beautiful, sunny Sunday afternoon here in Ecuador! Draft of this note was composed from the hammock on my front porch,. Where the shade hid me at least from a bit of the heat. Right now we. Are in the coolest part of the year for Ecuadorians and lots of. Mornings it is cloudy and cool, but when the clouds burn off it gets. Really warm. This morning there were no clouds and the heat started. Early, promising a hot, muggy day. I think I probably sweat my body. For people wit...

Travels to Panama, Ecuador and Colombia

Travels to Panama, Ecuador and Colombia. Tuesday, 11 March 2014. Panama, Ecuador and Colombia. South America Trip - December 2013. Our journey started on a cold Calgary day. The temperature was -27 c (or -16 F) when the taxi came to pick us up. And since our garage door didn't close, I was forced to go out in my thin denim jacket and shut that stupid thing manually. We were then taken to a butterfly farm, and a snake farm, and we saw a sloth ( he was sort of sweet looking)! Our hotel was located at this ...

November 5, 2016. I love Lonely Planet, clearly. Some of my past travel destinations. Meiji Shrine, Tokyo. So here are the 9 reasons this writer believes solo travel is bad, with my comments on each one. 9 SOLO TRAVEL IS EXPENSIVE. Traveling solo means I can use the type of transportation I want, which is typically my o...
