Sparkling Squirrel Year: Whale of Seven Years
http://sparklingsquirrel.blogspot.com/2015/07/whale-of-seven-years.html
Monday, July 20, 2015. Whale of Seven Years. As of July 15, Mister Splashy Pants has been part of our family for seven years. Seven years! And I have rarely posted since her kittenhood. We are far away and miss her right now, but she is certainly guarding the in our absence, and likely protecting us from unprotected upholstery*. Happy joining our family day, Mister Splashy Pants. Protected upholstery has a nice layer of short white hairs upon it. Labels: mister splashy pants. July 20, 2015 at 9:46 PM.

Sparkling Squirrel Year: Glowing Update
http://sparklingsquirrel.blogspot.com/2015/08/glowing-update.html
Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Glowing year hasn't quite sparked friends to action the way that other themes have. Perhaps that is the nature of "glow". I do, however, have some glowing things to report at this midpoint. The luminous jellyfish at the Vancouver Aquarium didn't transfix Dianthus quite the way the jellyfish at the National Aquarium in Baltimore had five years prior, but they were still pretty cool. Saturn looked just like this, (but smaller and with five moons). Glow myself into shape. Once in ...

Sparkling Squirrel Year: God wants me to eat rhubabrb
http://sparklingsquirrel.blogspot.com/2015/05/god-wants-me-to-eat-rhubabrb.html
Sunday, May 10, 2015. God wants me to eat rhubabrb. The Mister bought rhubarb at the farmers' market yesterday and asked how to prepare it in ways other than pies. A few hours later I stumbled across a previously unseen copy of Eating Well. Among the newspaper recycling- the special "rhubarb: it's not just for pies" issue. Clearly we are meant to eat lamb and rhubarb. Answer] They do not want to hear, "Everything happens for a reason," or "God only gives you what you can handle.". Well said, dear daughter.

Sparkling Squirrel Year: Americana Cheese
http://sparklingsquirrel.blogspot.com/2014/07/americana-cheese.html
Friday, July 4, 2014. True, I was the one who dressed them in red, white, and blue with baseball caps and didn't clean the lens before snapping their photo in front of the flag on the 4th of July, but the cheesy grins are all their own. Happy Independence Day fellow (U.S. of) Americans! Two fine young American boys, looking good on Independence Day. July 4, 2014 at 7:00 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sparkling Squirrel Year: On Rhubarb and Rodents
http://sparklingsquirrel.blogspot.com/2015/07/on-rhubarb-and-rodents.html
Monday, July 6, 2015. On Rhubarb and Rodents. While every trip has an official destination (the recent one was the Vancouver-Yellowstone trip), and most have some personal significance (this one was Women's World Cup - my Mother's big birthday- Mister's Parents' 50th anniversary [and possibly our 10th]), many also acquire an unofficial agenda. Columbian on guard in Canadian Rockies. Uinta grooming in Yellowstone. Notice the shoulder humps! Pastures of Badlands National Park. Prairie Dog picked up two new...

Sparkling Squirrel Year: Radiant Jupiter (aka Americana Cheese Part 2)
http://sparklingsquirrel.blogspot.com/2015/07/radiant-jupiter-aka-americana-cheese.html
Saturday, July 4, 2015. Radiant Jupiter (aka Americana Cheese Part 2). One goal of taking the kids on a 7,000 mile road trip is that they gain some appreciation of our country, its history, and its diversity. I really have no idea if that goal is being realized, but Aster and Dianthus do look cute next to the replica of the Jupiter from California at Golden Spike. Happy Independence Day, fellow United States Americans! Last year's cheesy 4th of July image can be found here. Friends Doing Fantastic Things.

Sparkling Squirrel Year: Ladies Glow
http://sparklingsquirrel.blogspot.com/2015/02/ladies-glow.html
Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Team Ecuador, from the FIFA Womens' World Cup 2015 webpage. 12 I will see women from around the world glowing as they play World Cup Soccer. Specifically I will see women from Cameroon, Ecuador, Switzerland and Japan in person from BC Place in downtown Vancouver, although I also intend to watch other matches televised. These women will be "glowing" in the sense of, "Horses sweat, gentlemen perspire, ladies glow," but perhaps also basking in the glow of victory.
