Life After NICU: August 2010
http://lifeafternicu.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 22, 2010. We were very excited when we got the word that there was an earlier opening in the program for this year! Next, we went downstairs for him to be weighed and measured by Sandra, the dietician and to discuss his diet. He will be weighed and measured every Monday to compare to to previous week and to monitor any weight gain/loss during the program. And giving more positive verbal comments ("That was a good try. Now lets try again to get all the food off the spoon." instead o...This ...

Life After NICU: July 2008
http://lifeafternicu.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 31, 2008. Monday afternoon, I brought the kids to the Sprayground, a small waterpark in Oldsmar. Before, Kyle has resisted going into the actual water play area, but this time he actually joined in and had a blast! After a while, he came to me and was moving his hands on his chest immitating the sign language gesture for 'please' so I said, "Please? Then he repeated the sign for 'please' and did the sign for 'sleep'. I asked, "Please sleep? You want to go to sleep? Chris and I have started...

Life After NICU: Kyle Home
http://lifeafternicu.blogspot.com/2009/04/kyle-home.html
Wednesday, April 8, 2009. They discharged Kyle yesterday and I took him home after an interview for an echo tech position. Kyle's now on a couple of cardiac meds as a precaution and we have Orapred (an oral steroid) to give him in case of emergency. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). This is the continuing story of our family since Kyle came home from the NICU. To see how it all began, please visit our Twinspiration. Get your own countUP widget at Blixy.com. Life After NICU: October 2008
http://lifeafternicu.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 31, 2008. Trick or Treat 2008. I didn't get to go with the kids trick-or-treating this year because I had to work but Chris and my dad took them out and they had a blast. Hannah was a princess, Kyle was a tiger and Audrey was a ballerina. Audrey received a blanket hand-made by her 91-year-old Great-Grammy Cain. I honestly didn't think I'd get the job because I have no retail experience whatsoever but I did. I think it's working out pretty well. Chris' older sister Amy came down to Florida...

Life After NICU: Audrey at the Doctor's
http://lifeafternicu.blogspot.com/2009/04/well-this-morning-audrey-wasnt-feeling.html
Thursday, April 9, 2009. Audrey at the Doctor's. We'll be going back to the pediatrician tomorrow morning for Kyle's hospital discharge follow-up appointment and they will be giving him another immunization against pneumonia. He's already had one but the immunology work-up they did on him came up negative for immunity so they're going to try again. Considering he had pneumonia twice last year and once this year already, it would be nice if the vaccine took this time. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Life After NICU: August 2009
http://lifeafternicu.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 19, 2009. Next Tuesday, Hannah will start Kindergarten and Kyle will start 3-year-old Pre-K at Curlew Creek Elementary School. Had the services he needed. It happened that the school Hannah was assigned to did have the services Kyle needs. I'm nervous about the start of school. I'm not sure what to expect. For one thing, I never attended public school myself. I was homeschooled from Kindergarten through high school graduation. Now I'll be sending, not one, but. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Life After NICU: July 2010
http://lifeafternicu.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 31, 2010. School and Happy Mealtimes. A lot has happened since Kyle's last hospital stay. He has been out of the hospital (other than the usual routine appointments and an outpatient swallow study or two) since 11/1/09! Kyle was hospitalized the last week in October 2009 for a touch of pneumonia. Kyle did very well in the PreK. At Curlew Creek Elementary School. My mind was put at ease as soon as I met his teacher, Ms. Laurie Curti. With special needs children and had seen just about every...

Life After NICU: December 2008
http://lifeafternicu.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 18, 2008. Before his discharge, the caseworker assigned to Kyle gave me some information about the PPEC (Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care) medical daycare program in Clearwater. Previous caseworkers have mentioned the program to us before but I looked into it a little more this time. PPEC is 100% covered by medicaid and many other insurances. There is no cost to the family. I was especially surprised at this considering that they are able to accomodate even newborns. They also can pr...
