GOENKA. 本人 出生於緬甸的印度商人世家，因病而向一位緬甸的佛教大師 薩亞基 烏巴慶. 由於戒律是修學此法的基礎，故新生必須嚴守五戒 不殺、不盜、不淫、不妄語 、不飲酒 外，舊生更要 遵守過午不食等的八關齋戒。 每天作息時間是，早上四點起床，四點半開始禪修，六點半早粥 八點開始晨間的禪修，十一點中餐後午休 下午一點開始午后的禪修，五點為茶點時間 六點禪修一小時，七點播放 GOENKA. 每天上午 8-9 下午 2:30-3:30 及晚間 6-7 ，各有一個小時的集體共修，全體新 舊生均必須到場參加 其他時間，可按指示分別在禪修大廳、關房、或寢室禪修。 前三天半是觀察純粹的呼吸，把我們紛亂的思慮清除，訓練到能專注 於鼻孔下至上唇間的三角區域，第四天起開始 內觀的訓練，從頭頂到腳趾，由上到下，由下而上，觀察身上粗細的感受 ，訓練心的覺知與平衡。

在印度與其他國家，過去都有聰明而神聖的人研究這個問題 人類受苦的問題 因而發現了一個對策 如果發生了不如意的事情，我們因而開始反應，產生憤怒，恐懼或任何負面雜染，那麼我們就要立刻轉移注意力到其他的事情上面。 所以我必須自己找一個私人秘書跟在身邊，每當憤怒開始時，他就說， 請注意，老闆，憤怒開始了 由於我無法知道憤怒何時開始，我必須找三個私人秘書，全天二十四小時分成三班 如果我請得起他們，當憤怒開始生起時，我的秘書就會告訴我， 喔，老闆，看，憤怒生起了 我的第一個反應大概會是打他一巴掌罵他， 你這個笨蛋 你以為我請你來當我老師嗎 我被憤怒完全控制住了，任何忠告都沒有幫助。 每當我心中生起不淨雜染時，我的呼吸就會不再正常 呼吸會開始警告， 喂，出問題了 我無法打我的呼吸巴掌 我必須接受這個警告。 一個純淨的心總是充滿了愛 對於眾生無私的愛 對於其他苦難眾生充滿了慈悲 對於其他人的成就與快樂充滿了歡愉 在任何情況下都充滿了平等心。
