Unemploy Me: January 2012
http://missunemployme.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 24 January 2012. The Family Of Misery. Some of the loyalest members of The FOM have been very kindly trying to assist me in pulling myself together. The irony of a bunch of fellow misery guts attempting to inject joy into my eyeballs is not lost on me. At least it is better than them trying to inject me with skag. Their tactics include;. Daily text messages of love and support, and crucially piss-taking. Songs being sung to me which frequently include the word penis and my first name. There are ...

Unemploy Me: December 2011
http://missunemployme.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 28 December 2011. All I got for Christmas. I must have been naughty. My Christmas Day began typically at 12am in a pub in Brighton with my friends. There was no kissing under the mistletoe, there was however a significant amount of staring. When my turn came up I found myself leaning into my lovely brother from another mother "the troll" and blurting out;. Monday, 19 December 2011. Where are we at? The thing is from my perspective surely after the mass closure of homes through Southern Cross y...

Laid Off in NYC. 24, female and officially on unemployment. NYC or any Media Folks – help! Another friend suggested that I go on linked in to look up the hiring managers and to email them directly if I see a job that I want. I’ve done that a few times now, and am yet to get a response. Is doing that inappropriate? Or is it actually tenacious and a good way to get an interview? Also, has anyone tried sending actual snail mail to a company to get an interview? It Ain't Easy) Being Pink. Why do I have to be Mr. Pink? Tuesday, May 5, 2009. Story 10: Adapting to the New Normal. Sit in an office with nothing to do and sponge off the taxpayers? Not for me. There was no clear answer to this. It was evident that I really wasn't supposed to have connected the dots so quickly. They of course can't let me go right now because at this moment in time they need me. And what about motivation? Or have the rules changed? Story 9: Captain’s log, January 12, 2009. It all began ...

It Ain't Easy) Being Pink. Why do I have to be Mr. Pink? Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Buddy Blog: Unemployment Haiku Weekly. Did you ever think that your layoff was haiku-worthy? Like me, you probably never thought about it, but there are a pair of bloggers that create some very funny single-frame cartoons with haikus that are all about being unemployed. Their site is called Unemployment Haiku Weekly - using the classic 5-7-5 form of Japanese haiku, and mixing it with some rather irreverent humor! Then,...

It Ain't Easy) Being Pink. Why do I have to be Mr. Pink? Saturday, March 21, 2009. Story 8: The Cabbie. As told to Pink Lady, by Issa Hawamdah, Luxor Cab Driver, San Francisco, CA. Yesterday morning I got into the cab of Issa Hawmdah, a charming older cabbie who spoke English with a heavy accent, peppered with the phrase "bless your heart." Grey haired, glasses, wearing a windbreaker - he looked like the kind of gentle grandfather who'd pick you up from school and take you to get ice cream. We would love...
