Adventures in applying intelligence to Business Intelligence. Friday, September 9, 2011. Display a # of rows per page based on output type. That being said, the user also wanted to potentially run this thing out to HTML or Excel. Well, if the data set is potentially large I want to show a good amount of it on the screen in html but not enough that rendering will take a significant amount of time. For this you can use the Rows Per Page property. What do we do? I assume this is a MHTML. I couldn't figure o...

BI Curious Cognos: Debugging Cognos Issues
http://bicuriouscognos.blogspot.com/2012/03/debugging-cognos-issues.html
Adventures in applying intelligence to Business Intelligence. Monday, March 26, 2012. Like the programmers on the Jersey Shore, I like to follow a GTL approach to debugging cognos issues. Cognos is an off the shelf product and has standard error messages. Anything you might see there's a guy with a blog explaining how to fix it. *cough*. Google that error code, message text or other identifying issue. Yes I made this post because I thought of an acronym). November 16, 2012 at 5:29 AM.

Adventures in applying intelligence to Business Intelligence. Thursday, August 25, 2011. Interviewing for a BI position. Does HR think BI is junk? I want to know that! I want to know how easy it will be to work in that department, these rankings of maturity don't really answer the main question that I've got when I'm interviewing for a BI position: "How effective is this department, and how interested are it's customers in analytics? What's the 1 and 5 year direction of BI here? Do you have a system of m...

Adventures in applying intelligence to Business Intelligence. Tuesday, October 18, 2011. The Downside of Stored Procedure Based Query Items. In Cognos Framework Manage one of the query item options is a stored procedure. This item seems promising, but I would suggest avoiding it. First of all, to setup a stored procedure based query item in framework manager:. Write your stored procedure. It can expect prompts. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Follow Us on Twitter! Framework Manager 8.4 (and 8.3) | COGNOS Annoyances
https://cognosdev.wordpress.com/2009/07/15/framework-manager-8-4-and-8-3
124; Comments RSS. Framework Manager 8.4 (and 8.3). Posted on July 15, 2009. I’ve been using FM 8.4 for a day now, fortunately I skipped right past 8.3 cause I just opened that up for comparrison’s sake and it would seem that 8.4 is a fair improvement on that abomination. Rather than incrementing/decrementing levels of zoom like the vast majority of applications, it now takes TWELVE wheel scrolls while holding CTRL to change the level of zoom by a single percent. Shield your eyes from the harsh luminocity.

124; Comments RSS. Posted on July 16, 2009. Here’s my top DataManager Annoyances. It started as a top 10, however now it’s just a compilation of annoyances. I’m certain to change this list over time as I recall some of the better hidden frustrations of this product, in fact it’ll probably be a top 50 before I know it. Pisspoor implementation of UI. SQLTerm is STILL a POS. Double-click to insane zoom. Properties page defaults to empty Documentation. Default Logging and Audit options. SQLTerm is STILL a POS.
