Monday, September 15, 2008. Update September 15 2008. Well, I've arrived! No nice pictures today since I'm paying for internet by the hour at the local computer shop. I arrived last Tuesday evening. Managed over the next few days to unload the truck with the help of Carolee and my mom. It took a little longer than it did to load it! There will be some changes in a few weeks! I've spent the last few days either on the phone or sitting in the offices of accountants, lawyers, banks and licensing boards!

Saturday, September 6, 2008. Got into Grand Forks at about 12:30 CST. Slept in a bit then headed for Canada. I was having very mixed emotions today, anticipation for the coming opportunities but also periods of sadness as I thought of what I was leaving behind. I crossed the border into Canada with relatively little problem at all. Due to my "meticulous list of belongings" hey didn't even open the back of the truck! So where are you now? With your family, I'd assume. How does Eldon like his new school?

Saturday, September 6, 2008. Well, today was my last day of work in the U.S. On Tuesday I spent all day hauling stuff to the dump in 90 degree weather. The final total since we started cleaning and packing was 2785 pounds of garbage taken to the dump. I picked up the U-Haul at lunch today and this evening with a lot of help from some great friends we managed to transform this. And the for sale sign is up on the house. Monday, September 8, 2008. Sunday Sept 7th and Monday Sept 8th. Sunday I drove from Moose Jaw Saskatchewan to Red Deer Alberta. Along the way, there were the infamous fields of grain,. Some of the Alberta badlands. And a rainbow through the rain. Sunday night I booked into a motel then went next door for supper. While there I noticed some people from our church that I'd known when I was growing up, sitting there with their family and 3 other families. The odds of that happening are what?

Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Removal of the tree. We were SAD that this monstruous tree had Dutch Elm disease and had to go. We had even continued the schedule of injections to try to keep it healthy. Strangely enough, we didn't miss it as much as we thought we would when all was said and done. Friday, September 26, 2008. Annie and Len's wedding. 2nd wedding of the year that my kids got to participate in! Amara and her cousins were woodland fairies instead of flower girls. They carried flowers in the shape of a wand and skipped in to the ceremony. The boys were "laddies" instead of ring bearers. They did carry the rings in, but on a bird's nest situated on the top of some sticks that were in the shape of a torch. Amara wants me to do her hair like this again someday. Ummm.Grandma? Sunday, August 3, 2008. Trip to Duluth to see the tall ships. We went to Duluth with Annie and Len to see the sailing ships in the harbor. Watching fireworks the first night! We stood in line for 3 hours to get on the ships! The picture below is from the top of Enger Tower. One of the sailing ships was out sailing with a private group. Snowberry clearwing moth feeding on milkweed flower nectar. It was pretty exciting seeing this moth yesterday because it was a first. From a distance, it looks like a really big bumblebee. I looked it up and found out it is called a Snowberry clearwing moth. It likes the bergamot and marsh milkweed. Posted in Urban wildlife. July 12, 2015.
