Friday, March 28, 2008. Bright moment in a cramped space. One evening, two lectures. Both about Dharavi, both about the redevelopment plan. As interesting as they are, my mind still floats away in the overcrowded and hot inner courtyard of our guesthouse.“What do people actually need to be happy? I don’t know. I realise that I don’t have enough brain capacity to think properly about such heavy subjects. Maybe one day. When I grow up. One of the numerous allies. 5 times a day. Scene of the accident.

Friday, March 28, 2008. Me and My Home in Dharavi. A low-tech multi-media creative artwork competition. 40 out of 50 responded, all made with a lot of effort. Genuineness and authenticity is the most precious, also their uncorrupted minds. I am simply touched by all these sincere smiley faces. They are all angels. Posted by Geraldine Li. namaskar: In and Out
http://geraldineli.blogspot.com/2008/03/in-and-out.html
Friday, March 28, 2008. In and out. In and out. In and out. In and out……. The amazingly different microclimate inside and outside of the slum can really stimulate our senses. It is strange that we actually enjoy staying inside those small alleys that creeps among the massive slum area. They are cooler, better shaded and have more stories to tell. These crowds of people that are following us! Are we studying them or are we being studied? Posted by Geraldine Li. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Wednesday, February 27, 2008. Making a map of the city in an non-conventional way; biomapping. A map made out of emotions. One of our crashdummies for this project was Arie Willem (a.k.a. Iron William, not without a reason). Released of his sight we took him for a walk starting from the market square in Delft all the way to the Ikea, going through all kinds of environments. I'll try to update later). I hear a little piggy! Never seen a guy with a box on his head before? He is just standing there! The con...

namaskar: Give and Take
http://geraldineli.blogspot.com/2008/03/give-and-take.html
Friday, March 28, 2008. There is a Chinese saying that being able to give is more blessed than taking. “施比受更有福”. How willing and readily are we to “give” in Dharavi, in Mumbai? In terms of happiness, who are the “have-s” and who are the “have not-s”? Now I really sound like a social worker……. Posted by Geraldine Li. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Urban Body : Rome. Linda's thoughts: Food for thought

Fredag 28 mars 2008. Rahul Srivastava and Matias Sendoa Echanove from Urban Typhoon talk about Mumbai consisting of denied villages. The informal city shouldn't be considered an anachronism, but a highly sophisticated and functional space (highly relevant I think! The problem is not the slum, but the urban imagination. Monday, February 25, 2008. Posted by Geraldine Li. Http:/ www.softhook.com/. Websites of Christian. Really love his works. I think he is an extremely intelligent person to design such a bio-mapping device. The process is extremely interesting. But more importantly, the way of organizing data that we have collected is not easy. I wanted to repeat the bio-mapping process, but perhaps it is just out of curiosity. I guess presenting the data is also an important issue to discuss. A long p.s.:. Right now I ha...

Monday, September 8, 2008. Important side-activity for people in Russia and especially Moscow is the datsja (exact spelling unknown), a summer holiday house some hours outside Moscow where the air is still clean and the people relaxed. Bbq-ing drunk police detective vodka in the middle of the night,. Fishing in the wolga beer during daytime,. Traditional naked swimming in the wolga vodka in the night,. Breakfast vodka in the afternoon,. Peeing in a train without toilet beer on the way back,.

Wednesday, July 30, 2008. One weekend, two matches. My one and only friend outside the office, bus-buddy from the airport James, got as a sports journalist free tickets for Dynamo and Spartak. I was the lucky one to join him on this noble mission. Singing along with the hooligans, cheering for the wrong team, seeing Dick Advocaat and EC 2008 starplayer Arshavin at work and being amazed by the poor level. It all happened. What a nice weekend! Tuesday, July 29, 2008. Still look the same. In the end the clu...

Sunday, April 27, 2008. Is anybody home (still)? I wonder if anyone would still be reading this diary). It's a pity that the expo was only there for 3 days (2 days of real exhibition time, to be exact) I really wanted it to stay longer. It is interesting to see how different the approaches are from different group. I guess we all enjoyed the trip and the setting up process. Though I also think a lot of us are confused about the design studio that is following the Urban Body part. Posted by Geraldine Li.
