Reasons To Grow Food Not Grass. 1: Grass costs money to water. 10-30% of that water is lost to runoff and evaporation. 2: An Urban Organic produce garden of equivalent size, with proper mulching and irrigation, will use 40-70% less water than a traditional grass lawn. 3: Grass costs money to maintain. Gardeners come and use loud, gas powered machines to cut the grass. Then they pollute San Diego’s groundwater with synthetic fertilizers used to keep the grass looking green.

After talking with Brooke for a few hours, we learned that he had grown up with the Abenaki Native Americans in Vermont. He had never even seen a grocery store until he was 14 years old. Food is only as good as the soil and water it is given. Right now, the food we grow is based off the methods used in the 1940’s. This food contains 30-70% more nutrients than any food you can buy. We do this on a small scale. One garden at a time.

The little house belongs to my neighbors. I decided to build here for 4reasons. 1 A whole group of our friends from Belgium have land adjacent to mine or nearby. 2 We own a beach front property 15 minutes away. 3 It was cheap. 4 My caretaker lives in Motul so now he'll have no excuse not to come to work.
