I've seen comments saying how this coalition is "undemocratic" or "not what Canadians voted for", and even "the people rejected Dion as their leader" - coming from people like Harper himself and even some of my friends. No matter how I look at this, I can't see it that way:. The Canadian system is NOT the American system - people don't vote directly for a leader, they vote for their MP representative. The person who ends up as the "leader" is essentially chosen by the MPs.
