Virginia Blue Ridge & Southern: June 2012
http://vbrs.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Virginia Blue Ridge and Southern. Sunday, June 17, 2012. Scenery Session Interrupted by Train. Here I am adding scenery to the Kemper Street Station scene and a pesky northbound passenger train shows up. Now what can I do? Ah Ha, what any rail fan would do, pull out my camera. I was in the park on the left side of Kemper Street Station and grabbed this shot as the train came out of Park Avenue Tunnel. A buddy was on a ladder cleaning gutters on the station and grabbed this one. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Virginia Blue Ridge & Southern: February 2011
http://vbrs.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Virginia Blue Ridge and Southern. Sunday, February 20, 2011. The Lower Basin Revisited. At first glance these pictures probably look just like those from last month, but there have been improvements. The over all area is pictured here. Whats new is a second row of structure flats behind the main buildings but in front of the city backdrop. Also since Commerce Street is several stories above Jefferson Street there's vegetation in areas where the ground would be visible. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Virginia Blue Ridge & Southern: October 2009
http://vbrs.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Virginia Blue Ridge and Southern. Tuesday, October 6, 2009. Ya gotta hate it when the roof walks end! At the October 4th VBR&S Operating Session, the Monroe Yard crew employed this guy to handle the close up work. He even walked the roof walks on a moving train until interrupted by a lack of more roof walks. See more shots from the session by pressing "Operating Sessions" on the right. Virginia Blue Ridge & Southern: April 2012
http://vbrs.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Virginia Blue Ridge and Southern. Friday, April 27, 2012. Another Layout Work Day. We're getting "Teacher Work Days" this year that we've never had before because we usually have many snow days to make up. I used this one to add the backdrops that came in last week. Another angle, this time looking south toward Park Avenue (the tunnel's hidden by the walkway roof). There's the tunnel and more photo backdrop curved around the backdrop. And from a slightly different angle. Sunday, April 15, 2012. A look do...

Tuesday, January 1, 2008. The VBR&S web site gives you a good look at the railroad's features. Here I'll try to show you things that will make operating on the layout easier, as we try to duplicate a typical day on the Southern Railway in 1956. Track Schematic and Industry Guide. Shown as a line map, the area featured on the VBR&S. Posted by Bill Cox. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Running an Extra: January 2008
http://vbrsextra.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Many of the items you receive with a Scheduled Train you also receive with an Extra Train. You will have a Clearance Card and a Loco Card, but you will also receive a Job Description instead of a Timetable Card for your train, and you will have Train Orders. In addition, you will need to pick up a Railroad Timetable. These follow the same format. You will receive them from a yard master or a box at your locos location. Charlottesville Turn Operating Instructions. The Railroad Timetable is copied from the...

http://vbrstrain.blogspot.com/2008/01/scheduled-trains.html
VBR&S Running a Scheduled Train. When you're assigned a train on the VBR&S you'll receive a Clearance Card, a Timetable for your train, a Locomotive Card and if a freight, some waybill/carcards. The Loco Card can be found in the slot corresponding to the track your train is on. These are on the inside of the doors housing the controls for Hidden Holding at Rio and Montview. This is a photo of the one at Rio which has 7 tracks. The Montview Hidden Holding area has 6 tracks. Getting out of Hidden Holding.

Virginia Blue Ridge & Southern: March 2011
http://vbrs.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Virginia Blue Ridge and Southern. Saturday, March 12, 2011. I've been working on the Railroad. It's been a week since our first op session of 2011 and I've been working to fix some things that needed fixing. First many of you said you were directionally challenged on the VBR&S, so there are now North-South indicators all around the layout (and some East-West ones in a few locations that require those). Til next report,. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Ive been working on the Railroad. Map of the VBR&S.
