The life, style, and times of an independent womanist. Behold The Humble Churro. This entry was posted on January 3, 2011, in DIY. I 3 My Husband. Churros. The very word conjures warm images and memories of my three years in Southern California. Before moving there, I am sorry to say I’d never heard of them. Shortly upon arrival, they seemed to be everywhere. Restaurants. DisneyLand. Street vendors. They’re cinnamon/sugary goodness forever asking to be eaten. Once you’ve got your dough rolled out a...

I *promise* there are huge snowflakes behind me! This weekend started off nicely. Why, you ask? Well, that would be because I skipped an impromptu after-work meeting (on a Friday afternoon, how dare they). Then I enjoyed the first half of the Cotton Bowl, only ceasing to enjoy it when Texas A&M (my alma mater) ceased…enjoying…it. Finally, I wore one...

The life, style, and times of an independent womanist. I’m Just A Little Bit Caught In The Middle. This entry was posted on November 1, 2011, in Uncategorized. I’ve been a teacher for six years. I started as a last minute fill-in in a middle school where no one checked on me. One. Single. Time. From December to May. But then we moved. And now I’m here. But…where do I go from here? You may say, “Oh, try another school! 8221; But…I’m done and I don’t think I can do it. So if not teaching? And there’s...

Serendipitous Disaster: July 2012
http://serendipitousdisaster.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
30 For 30 Challenge. Monday, July 2, 2012. Had another awesome day! Marty and I took a sight-seeing tour through the city and hit up mist of the big attractions. Our first stop was St. Paul's Cathedral. Holy moly! The architecture and mosaic work were incredible! I could hardly tear my eyes away from them! We stopped in the shop on the way out ("there's always a shop") and I got an isometric sketch of the Cathedral. I can't wait to put it in my classroom! It's July and raining! It stays up forever! First...

Friday, July 31, 2015. A Trip to See Pops. I dressed the boys in their matching outfits that my parents got them from their Hawaiin cruise last year. Dad loved seeing them in their outfits. They eat dinner at like 4:45 at the nursing home so since they had already eaten, we all went to the game room to hang out for a little bit. Pearson and Pops played a game of checkers. Lolly and Nash worked on a puzzle. Posted by The Links. Monday, July 27, 2015. Spaghetti and Meatballs, Caesar Salad, and Garlic Knots.

http://serendipitousdisaster.blogspot.com/p/fiction-warning.html
30 For 30 Challenge. This is a warning for my fiction posts. If you've been shocked or confused by a recently read post, then this page might clear things up for you. I have, let's see, how shall I put this, an.interesting imagination. I may be all girly and sunshine and rainbows on the outside, but that is not what the writing department of my brain looks like. I. But I hope some of my stories are slightly disturbing or a little bit creepy. Oh, and leave me your opinions! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

http://serendipitousdisaster.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
30 For 30 Challenge. Thursday, March 24, 2011. I am sooooo glad to be done with this! Wearing the same thirty items for the past month has really been wearing on me (no pun intended). It's been over a week since I wore my last outfit and I find myself gravitating back to these pieces even though I'm dying to wear ANYTHING else! Speaking of work.I have a job again! Or maybe I'm just a glutton for pain. Yep. That might be it too. So, I don't think I'll be taking on the 30 For 30 again. The only time I ...

30 For 30 Challenge. Tuesday, January 8, 2013. Day 3: 30 days without make up. Self portrait in the car. I know: bad light. I actually liked the way my hair looked this morning. I still haven't worked up the courage/energy to wear my contacts. I think I actually might be hiding behind them! It's a good thing they're cute. I'm thinking I'll switch to washing my face when I get home from work if my skin continues to feel raw. Wore my glasses again today. Up close of my face. No change yet. Blogs to ♥.

Serendipitous Disaster: Food Stuff
http://serendipitousdisaster.blogspot.com/2014/08/food-stuff.html
30 For 30 Challenge. Saturday, August 16, 2014. Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a good cook. I won't be starving to death anytime soon, but cooking healthy and wholesome meals is an art that I've yet to master. Until then, I will continue to cook my favorite comfort foods like this bad boy at left. I LOVE cajun food! And then I buy a pound of Stater Bros Andouille sausage to put in it (the sausage is about $3 a pound.not as cheap, but still good). The best part about this magic box? Step 1: Slice...

30 For 30 Challenge. Thursday, April 24, 2014. It's been an awfully long time since I updated! I know I didn't finish my 30 Days Without Make Up, but who wants to see that anyway? I did go the full 30 with no make up, and you know what? It didn't change my life. It didn't change my skin. Oh, yeah.that's me. This post has nothing to do with make up, but it does have to do with achieving goals and fancy spreadsheet stuffs. You heard me right: *fancy*spreadsheet*stuffs*. Saturday, May 30, 2015. Once the doctors knew that he had had a stroke, the took him into surgery to remove the clot. He couldn't have the "clot busting drug" they typically give patients who suffer a stroke because he had just had a recent trauma. Thinning his blood could make things even worse for him which is why they had to go in physically and remove the clot themselves. He made it through surgery, but that was just one of the many hurdles we would have to jump in the next few months. Here is our ha...

Although it was decades ago, (actually, almost half a century! I can clearly recall a visual memory of my Mother sitting in her living room chair with a "Tab" cola on the lamp table and a writing box on her lap. Once comfortable and settled, she would take out her reliable Parker vacumatic and begin her weekly letter to Grandma. In my eyes, there was something very magical about that fountain pen. It looked classy and was only used for this weekly ritual. I do however, look forward to using my vintage fo...

Monday, 8 June 2015. Its nearly my birthday! Last week almost felt like my birthday! My new sofas arrived! And I absolutely love them! They are from DFS and part of the beautiful French Connection range. My little munchkin Jessica looking so cute sat on the 4 seater and the 3 seater butted up strategically to the cupboard part of my dresser. Jessica is also being amazing! In the last couple of weeks she started crawling and is already sofa surfing! Oh and she now says mum, mum and Dad, dad! This week is ...
