Growing old gracefully with an '85 Brick. This is probably my [B]ig [230] [F]reaking [T]errible mistake. Brickwalla has written 63 posts for brickWalla. April 10, 2014. March 14, 2014. I fitted a new battery and tried to crank up the engine of the wagon. It turned over and came to life for a brief few seconds, then it died and spewed dirty looking oil through the air cleaner box! I tried again after cleaning up all the affected parts and the same thing happened. … Continue reading →. February 21, 2014.

Born Again B230FT | brickWalla
https://brickwalla.wordpress.com/2011/03/17/born-again-b230ft
Growing old gracefully with an '85 Brick. March 17, 2011. Rebirth of the B230FT. I will worry about that later. From here on, I will hang up the spanners while I go about gathering the other anciliary parts to complete the swap. Apart for the right kind of distributor and a set of working fuel injectors, the project still needs a power stage or ignition amplifier, fuel pumps, and the rubber plumbing parts for the turbo, intercooler, intake and cooling systems. Timing Belt Cover Peek-a-boo Hole | brickWalla

Growing old gracefully with an '85 Brick. Timing Belt Cover Peek-a-boo Hole. March 16, 2011. It’s a shame that when the timing belt cover kept my camshaft sprocket that has been powder-coated blue hidden from view. I have always fancied on of those timing belt covers seen on tuned engines that has holes on them so you can see their bad-ass sprockets. So, out come the cover again. A 96mm hole was cut and sanded smooth. Cover with hole back on the engine. View all posts by brickwalla ». Glad you liked it&#...

Growing old gracefully with an '85 Brick. March 14, 2014. I fitted a new battery and tried to crank up the engine of the wagon. It turned over and came to life for a brief few seconds, then it died and spewed dirty looking oil through the air cleaner box! I tried again after cleaning up all the affected parts and the same thing happened. Looking into the valve cover through the oil filler hole I saw sludge and gunk all over the place. Time for a top overhaul. No carbon on chamber # 4. View of the block.

Growing old gracefully with an '85 Brick. Ball-joints, Bearings and Bumper. June 28, 2013. Hey, long time no write! I hit a road hump a few weeks back and have been getting some annoying noises from the front end. But I cannot pinpoint exactly from where the noise is coming from. The front suspension parts are shot anyway as I can shake the wheels in every which way, so I thought I might as well do some DIY over the weekends. Old Volvos need some TLC too. Hub and spindle cleaned off old grease. I managed...

New Year, New Project Car | brickWalla

Growing old gracefully with an '85 Brick. New Year, New Project Car. February 21, 2014. In retrospect, my 240 TIC project did not really roll as it should. There were some repairs and maintenance done but they were not exactly “Stage 0” stuff. You should never pick your only daily driver, your work horse, as the project car unless you are willing to go without a car for the duration. You should not have started a project blog either. I have always wanted a wagon! 245 DL rear view. 245 DL engine bay.

Growing old gracefully with an '85 Brick. April 10, 2014. On passenger’s side. Trying to trace the wires was a lot of fun, aargh! Seats and stuff in the living room. While waiting for the replacement AMM and Power Stage, I turned my attention to the wiring. I have ripped out all the redundant wires from the engine bay (two sets of looms for the head lights!
