Wednesday, August 04, 2010. This has been a long, hot, humid summer and the barn has been like a sauna, but I've made a lot of progress and the end of the project is now in sight! As you can see, the cabin top is now painted out, non-skid has been applied, the hardware, rails, hatches and tracks for the sheet blocks have all been installed. The portholes are back in and properly bedded, the screens are in again, and the deck is just about ready for final caulking and sanding. I hope you can see the teak ...

I've fitted the doors for the head, as well as the teak brace to support the aft stub "wall" which is hinged on the mast support so as to open up the entire head for doing emergency work on plumbing while underway. Thursday, August 21, 2008. It's hard to believe that it's been so long since I last updated this journal! I'm not sure why I tackled that chore except that it gave me time to think about the magnitude of the overall project and in what sequence to proceed. That took about 100 hours or so on my knees with a 1/4 chisel and lef. T me with hands that could hardly pick up a toothbrush! I immediately got into the engine room and started scrubbing down the inside to get rid of the worst of the grunge, dirt and oil (I also retrieved my tools that had gone under the engine! The ER is in need of some new fiberglass tabs and will get sanded and painted bright white in the next month, but the new engine will not go in until closer to launching time.
