Waiting For Wind: May 2011

Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Weekend With Friends Part Two. I'm always a fan of a good surprise, So I plotted with Blaine to keep our visit a secret from Tamra and the kids. It was a little dicey for him trying to hurry the family through Costco to get home to meet us, but it was priceless hearing her excitement as my kids walked into the kitchen nonchalantly carrying groceries from the car. (See below). They live minutes from the beach- sad for them huh? Getting drenched and dirty- yep- just like ol' times.

Waiting For Wind: August 2011

Saturday, August 13, 2011. Minus the Peanuts and Crackerjacks. Repeatedly said what a good time she was having. She even promised she would try and not freak out when she saw the clock at home. Laney had actually been the only truly optimistic one and left without disappointment. I too left extremely satisfied with our great family memory despite my initial scroogish sentiments and realized even baseball deserves a second chance. I still wouldn't pay for it though. Maybe I still am a scrooge. There was e...

Waiting For Wind: February 2011
http://waitingforwind.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 22, 2011. Ready, SET, Go! For posterity's sake I must document a recent family obsession. JJ's Boss Ed and his family very kindly gave us some games for Christmas. Amongst them is a new family favorite called SET. Was the queen of set. Then one day I looked into my magic mirror to ask. 8220;Who is the greatest set player of them all? And it was Princess Laney. There truly is no real way to win, but nevertheless, I still love playing it, which I think is the surest sign of a great game!

Waiting For Wind: September 2010
http://waitingforwind.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 24, 2010. The Flying Walkie Talkie. The bleeding subsided fairly quickly and her lip didn't look like it need stitches. Being after 5:00 pm I knew we weren't going to the dentist that night. We reviewed some online information and were reassured it was a fairly common break and quite fixable. Still, we mourned the fact this was a defining moment in her eating habits. She would need to be careful the rest of her life. Off to the Dentist. A little Nervous- You and me Both, babe! After he ...

Waiting For Wind: November 2010
http://waitingforwind.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 29, 2010. We have a Pool! I just wish I hadn't been too tired and cold last night to try and snap photos in the dark. We were pleasantly surprised this morning when we woke up and found the water had soaked into the lawn and is slowly going down underneath the tramploline. So everyone who wanted us to put in a swimming pool in our backyard, come on over we've got one now! We can take the cover off! Our wall is still soaked from back spray, even 10 hours after turning them off. The Optimi...

Waiting For Wind: Duck Creek: Day Four Good-byes
http://waitingforwind.blogspot.com/2011/07/duck-creek-four.html
Tuesday, July 19, 2011. Duck Creek: Day Four Good-byes. Tuesday was unfortunately departure day for JJ and Vanessa. We managed a hike before they had to leave to go back to work. The sky was such a deep blue unhindered by city smog. I about peed my pants during the hike worrying about one of the kids falling down the steep loose shale cliffs. Some of them(actually all of them) teens included,. Weren't able to evaluate risk very well. Aah little Honovi, my hiking buddy. Attacking her brother Mikey,. While...

Friday, July 29, 2011. Duck Creek: Day Five "Things get interesting". Per excitement of the Bonfire we had the night before, Jordan and Adahi went about collecting wood to make their own. Just pretend of course. I knew they were doing that, but when the boys went up to tell Grammy all they said to her was. Grammy, we made a bonfire! J and A: "outside, over by that big Marshmallow thing". That big marshmellow thing was a huge Gas tank). A bunch of sticks in a sort of pile. Later they were building a fort.
