To support increased catch and release fishing! 8220;Green” fishing and RI revenue. May 11, 2012. Better frozen, or “recycled”? It’s become time to “Wake up and smell the budget”. In March 2012, RI was reported to be about $125 million dollars in debt. This filters down to every state agency, including DEM, and Fish and Wildlife. For years these two agencies have applied a basic formula:. Catching and keeping fish will be the motivation for anglers to buy licenses and trout stamps. It takes anywhere betw...

To support increased catch and release fishing! Unless one can enjoy themself fishing, even when their efforts are unrewarded, you lose much real pleasure. More than half the intense enjoyment of fishing is derived from the beautiful surroundings, the satisfaction felt from being in the open air, the new lease of life secured thereby, and the many, many pleasant recollections of all one has seen, heard and done. 8211; Charles F. To support increased catch and release fishing! In a previous comment, a visitor wrote:. Believe it or not I was introduced to Catch and Release on a wonderful Bass fishery in St. Louis Missouri. It was a private lake with limited access and C and R implemented in the Mid 60’s. Https:/ ricatchandrelease.wordpress.com/2009/11/09/what-we-are-about-what-we-are-not-about/#comments. If you’re a Bass angler , you probably already practice C&R. And if you prefer ’em on your plate… well,. Posted in 2 Comments.

Long time coming…. | RIcatchandrelease

To support increased catch and release fishing! Long time coming…. 1992, Bill Clinton defeats George H. W. Bush for the presidency, and gas costs 95 cents per gallon. The move to improve Rhode Island catch and release fishing started over 20 years ago. 1992, after persistent TU request, DEM reluctantly assigns a portion of the upper Falls River in Arcadia State Park for C&R. Increased catch rates are expected due to recycling of the resource. May have been envisioned back in 1992). Logical reason why the...

I’m a little upset that some of my “spots” are on this map but hey, now I know a lot more places to pick up some wild fish. June 20, 2011. The hot fly of the day was a quick sight ant but after two fish I accidentally ripped the foam. I will for sure be making Valley Creek a regular detour when coming back home from Jersey. Steelhead Addiction: Ammonite Nymph
http://steelheadaddiction.blogspot.com/2009/12/ammonite-nymph.html
Thursday, December 10, 2009. Been reading up on this bad boy in the past few days. Looks like another effective pattern in the right hands. There's a couple of things I like about this fly: First off, it's damn near bullet-proof. Second, it's so general, it could be representative of anything, just tie it in various colors and sizes. January 6, 2010 at 6:33 PM. That is a sexy fly. I hope it works. January 7, 2010 at 6:37 PM. Youre right, it is sexy - hopefully in a fishy sort of way!

Steelhead Addiction: March 2009
http://steelheadaddiction.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 19, 2009. A Suburban Trout Haven. I was determined to find out on my own. I knew from conversations I've had with several DEP biologists that it is a sleeper. Every year they electro-fish some very quality trout out of this stream. Here are a few of the trout, all browns:. I was nymphing most of the time, but I did get several on Slumpbusters and Woolly Buggers. I'd like to see how it fishes once the water temps get closer to optimal. Thursday, March 12, 2009. Steelhead Addiction: February 2009
http://steelheadaddiction.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 18, 2009. Got the chance to fish the Farmington on Tuesday after work. Air temps were in the upper 30's, which is not to bad as far as winter fishing conditions go. Winds were light, which was an added bonus. Water temp was measured at 37 degrees, flow was approximately 240cfs. It was nice to see some insect activity going on! The winter caddis were everywhere along the streamside rocks, but I didn't witness a hatch per se. Tuesday, February 10, 2009. We moved around a bit. Tried ...
