Morning | News From Roan Mountain
https://williambakerpottery.wordpress.com/2009/01/12/morning
News From Roan Mountain. The Pottery Studio of William Baker. Here’s to a happy and fulfilling new year for all. I’ve been out of the studio for a few weeks now, after a much needed vacation around the holidays. Back at home, it feels like it will be a bit longer before I can get back into the studio and get moving on the next firing. If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about glazes, you can’t find a better experience than a week with Mr. John Britt. By williambakerpottery on January 12, 2009.

News From Roan Mountain. The Pottery Studio of William Baker. Bull;November 1, 2008 • 1 Comment. Just a hint of fall color. A whole month come and gone since the last report. The general conclusion is that October seems to have disappeared some how. It’s been a busy month here on Roan Mountain, with a kiln firing the first week and back to back craft shows in the middle. Ben Stark Pottery: Mmmmm...The other white meat!
http://starkspots.blogspot.com/2010/02/mmmmmthe-other-white-meat.html
Sunday, February 28, 2010. MmmmmThe other white meat! Yesterday, I grilled a pork loin roast, and it was AWESOME! This was the first time that I successfully grilled something 'low and slow' (don't ask about the ribs I did a little while back) and I'm finally getting the hang of it. All that I used was a dry rub and seared it, then grilled it over indirect heat for about 2-1/2 hrs. Super juicy and it melted in the mouth! Leftovers for lunch today :). Genevieve got a little car (thanks aunt Addie!
Ben Stark Pottery: February 2009

Thursday, February 26, 2009. These are my new favorite things! I have always wanted to. Make a dropped lid (not sure if that's the correct term), but had never made the time to experiment. Trimming was always the part that befuddled me, but a while back fetishghost. Posted his technique on throwing and trimming lids and it made everything so clear! By the way, it worked really, really well! Well, I've run out of things to say! Saturday, February 21, 2009. I just finished reading Brandon's blog. In firing...

Thursday, May 28, 2009. How long since I touched Clay? Can you get any cuter than this? Just look a those arms! If you don't know this blog is about pottery, that title is freakin' hilarious! I'm sad to say that this is really the first chance that I've had to sit down and get back to my blog. Still nothing to report on the pottery front. I did manage to pick up some clay last Saturday, but it's still in the boxes. Maybe this weekend, I'll get a chance to actually get a little muddy! I do truly love her,...
Ben Stark Pottery: Snow in Summerville?? And a pretty big bowl
http://starkspots.blogspot.com/2010/02/snow-in-summerville-and-pretty-big-bowl.html
Sunday, February 14, 2010. And a pretty big bowl. Like, real snow! Not that nasty wet stuff that normally falls for a little while and never sticks- this was about 5-6" of fluffy white stuff that even stuck to the roads. I attempted a feeble small snowman, but didn't get very far. We had a blast playing outside yesterday morning, even though Genevieve didn't really know what to think about it. It was all a little too cold for her. I also finally made a big. February 14, 2010 at 11:45 AM. MmmmmThe other w...
Ben Stark Pottery: Finished pitchers
http://starkspots.blogspot.com/2010/03/finished-pitchers.html
Wednesday, March 3, 2010. I got the kiln unloaded Sunday night, but I also came down with a bad cold/stomach thing that has not been too pleasant. I hope I'm getting over it. Anyway, here's a couple of pictures of the finished products. The one I liked best of course has pinholes on the inside. I think it might have been from dus. T when I was cleaning up the spout before glazing. I might try to re-fire it. That egg looks kinda tiny for a 'grade A Large' huh? March 4, 2010 at 8:53 AM. In The Night Kitchen.

Glasswork by William Baker
Welcome to my collection of one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces in fused glass and (occasionally) stone. If you look in the galleries, you'll see that everything I make is in a more or less contemporary style. Gallery 2 shows designs that I consider more bold and aggressive, with more hard edges, both literally and figuratively. Thanks for looking,.
