About my scattered thinking. The Changing Seasons Photo Project. The Lady in the Van. August 7, 2015. So, we wish to learn conversational French. Sufficient not simply to order two beers and a plates of frîtes then ask for directions to the toilet, but enough to sit at a bar and have a simple conversation with the Patron, for instance. So far I have come up with playing Scrabble. To assist our assimilation of vocabulary and watching French films. 8221; is incorrect and that it should be a small. Many beg...

It's getting late - Scattered Thoughts
http://www.woolgathering.org.uk/2015/08/its-getting-late
About my scattered thinking. The Changing Seasons Photo Project. The Lady in the Van. August 8, 2015. It’s getting late. It was rather a nice day out this morning when we took off to let Tan out for a breather. Tan’s mum is away at the County Show today. This is a fairly startling fact to one who is still internally waiting for Summer to arrive. The County Show means we are now officially at the back end of the year. There is an Orkney saying: first the County Show, then Winter. Tan at the Sanday Show.

Stuff I just get up to. Newer posts →. Mini experiments in bread and umami, May 2015 version. May 18, 2015. Sorry, no photos this time. I am remiss.). Since getting my Leeds Bread Co-Op subscription I’ve more-or-less stopped making bread. This isn’t a good state of affairs, but we just don’t eat that much bread to begin with and one sourdough will last us the week. Anyway, I had a desire for flamiche (or pizza bianche. Obviously further experiments are needed (as well as photographs, which I failed to ta...
b r o o k l y n t w e e d: The Juneberry Triangle
http://brooklyntweed.blogspot.com/2010/04/juneberry-triangle.html
I'm so happy to share with you a new lace design that was published this week - I've been itching to show you photos ever since I finished it in January. I designed this lace triangle for Veronik's second issue of. Magazine and got another chance to use her lovely wool. At the time, I was feeling particularly scrappy and wanted to design a lace project that would give me a good challenge to sink my teeth into. What resulted is a piece that is not for the faint of heart! To look up project details just fo...

Fibre life in Orkney. Christmas at Shearer’s 2014. Follow Northern Lace on WordPress.com. Would you vote for this man? Those of you not in the UK might well not know that we are in the middle of an election. This means we have endless sound bites and political broadcasts where politicians spend the time slagging each other off, rather than telling us what THEY would do if in power. It also means whole forests of trees coming through the door urging you to vote for this person or that. April 21, 2010.

Monday, February 02, 2015. Let's get it on! Monday, January 26, 2015. Format definitely matters, right? Remember when we all wrote blogs before Twitter. I've been having this discussion. We're all too ADD (except Lauren. And a select few) to commit to a longer form of expression. A friend wisely surmised that Instagram is visual poop and Twitter is verbal poop. While they were ahead. I guess that I'm in denial that this might be the end for W&M. May as well drag it out to the bitter end. Lisa. I guess I ...

Knit Tenacity
Tuesday, July 01, 2008. The surreal knit life (Knitscene Fall 2008). The preview for the Fall 2008 Knitscene. And I’m a bit flummoxed as to what I should feel, think – and say. One of my goals this year was to learn how to make a knit pattern submission and then actually make one. I knew that after going through the steps from beginning to end, and only after that, I would fully understand what’s involved. But dagnabit, what a glorious moment nonetheless! A crazy, unbelievable, wonderful moment! Okay, no...
