I have been to Dammaaj and maybe able to answer some of your questions. I also have some contacts and willing to give u their numbers if they agree. Masha’Allah, I loved it there. I came back at the end of 2005 but still have friends and family there who keep me updated. When I was there, there was no hot water/boiler! There are no shops for sisters.

Narrated ‘Uqba bin ‘Umar and Abu Mas’ud:. Allah’s Apostle pointed with his hand towards Yemen and said, True Belief (Eeman) is Yemenite yonder (i.e. the Yemenite, had True Belief and embraced Islam readily), but sternness and mercilessness are the qualities of those who are busy with their camels and pay no attention to the Religion where the two sides of the head of Satan will appear.
