The house was built on land severed from the Johnson farm and the original Johnson farm house (c 1835) is located next door to Brown's Manor. Archival records indicate that James acquired the land in 1893/94, and it is thought that his house was built soon after. In 1909, the house was purchased by RGK Hepburn. The house was sold again in 1912, and was owned by members of the same family until 2005. Visit the Archives, located in the historic Court House and County Jail. Diane and Ross Lindsay.
