From the Forecastle to the Masthead. The highs and lows of life near the end of a dissertation. Wednesday, July 23, 2008. Sort of. I've just finished a full draft of my dissertation (so now I'm on a high). Go me. Anyway, regardless, I can work with what I've got. If it's not ALL brilliant, a lot of it is. As Fatty would say, I'm awesome. Tuesday, July 15, 2008. I do feel bad for Dan Uggla though. He's had some tough extra innings, that one. Friday, July 11, 2008. Also, you can buy the ablum for whatever ...

From the Forecastle to the Masthead. The highs and lows of life near the end of a dissertation. Monday, May 26, 2008. Another Gem from Fox News. Correcting herself, she went on to say that it would be good if someone killed Barack Obama. This is an exact transcript of what she said:. I'm serious about the smarmy grin and chuckle. Check it out- the comment about Obama is from 1:21 to 1:33. Or is that what we want people on TV to do- shock us? Friday, May 23, 2008. I want to ride my.bicycle. Boy was I wron...

Pine Belt Blues: Synchronicity, not Jungian
http://pinebeltblues.blogspot.com/2009/07/synchronicity-not-jungian.html
Not sure if I actually live in the Pine Belt anymore, but oh well. Friday, July 24, 2009. Synchronicity, not Jungian. Lucero has a new album coming out on October 6th. I love Lucero. They've got a new song up on their website called "The Devil and Maggie Chascarillo." I listened to it and thought three things: 1) wow, I can actually understand the words, even though I have no idea what Ben Nichols is talking about, 2) this is an awesome song, and 3) is that a horn section? Blueprint for a Southern Home.

From the Forecastle to the Masthead. The highs and lows of life near the end of a dissertation. Monday, November 17, 2008. Well, I cooked the turkey on the grill and have some news to report. Ahh, America, and your infatuation with unnaturally big breasts. The turkey, you heathens. Go read some Kingsolver. Geez. Monday, November 10, 2008. Done, pt. 1. The first thing I'm going to do is make some good veal stock and demiglase (if I can find veal bones in Oxford. I'm not optimistic. Rhea's Market m...

Pine Belt Blues: Letters
http://pinebeltblues.blogspot.com/2009/07/letters_08.html
Not sure if I actually live in the Pine Belt anymore, but oh well. Wednesday, July 8, 2009. It's not enough that I have to be friended by people I went to (lower, middle) high school with, or random people I didn't like that much in undergrad, or friends of friends of friends from grad school, no. When I get friended on facebook by kids I used to baby-sit, I am officially OLD. At, you know, 26. Why do you do this to me? July 9, 2009 at 9:43 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). http://pinebeltblues.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Not sure if I actually live in the Pine Belt anymore, but oh well. Wednesday, August 27, 2008. Ellie attempts a fig tart. Ok, I promised I'd write this post for my friend Emily, who wants to learn to cook. Not so much. but it looked ok, so I kneaded it a couple of times and stuck it in the fridge, while I proceeded to cut up the figs, which looked like this:. Damn, adding pictures is confusing. Anyway. Aren't they pretty? Aren't they just so, so pretty? Lesson #4: go with the flow. Sometimes you have...

It's Monday night, and that means I'm sitting here watching football, playing poker, and posting to my blog. But I'm tired, so I'm not going to say much. I type for a living, I don't want to type now. Maybe I'll do more tomorrow to make up. Nice, Dan. That'll keep 'em reading. You just want to concentrate on cent poker. October 27, 2008 at 9:56 PM.
