Barefoot in the Ozarks

Barefoot in the Ozarks. Monday, April 1, 2013. Latham Family Adventures: An Introduction. I am only the mom, an outsider of sorts, but I wish to make record of the children’s exploits. I will not attempt to put them in chronological order, but rather, to write them down as they come forward in my memory (you know, the little Lathams are almost grown now! My hope is that these stories will bring smiles and maybe even inspire other little children to create adventures of their own. Wednesday, March 27, 2013.

Barefoot in the Ozarks: Latham Family Adventures: The Grapevine Kingdom

http://barefootintheozarks.blogspot.com/2012/06/latham-family-adventures.html

Barefoot in the Ozarks. Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Latham Family Adventures: The Grapevine Kingdom. The Latham children loved the woods. There, they found many things to inspire adventure. Wildlife was plentiful. They observed snakes, deer, snapping turtles, and even a stray armadillo! But the trees and other growing things were the most magical. There were oak, walnut, sassafras, and cedar trees. Many were old and gnarled and provided wonderful hiding places and climbing toys. View my complete profile.

Barefoot in the Ozarks. Thursday, August 30, 2012. Warning: Never Multi-Task in Front of the Children! Children learn by example. They watch our every move and listen to every word (especially when we think they aren’t! So we, as parents, need to examine our own behavior and attitudes. I saw last week on a news program that today’s teenagers are masters of multi-tasking. They engage in multiple text conversations and. Listen to music and. Play video games and. Work on homework. All at the same time!

Barefoot in the Ozarks: December 2012

http://barefootintheozarks.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Barefoot in the Ozarks. Wednesday, December 5, 2012. Latham Family Adventures: Poor People. So was the mind-set when the children set out to play a game they called “Poor People”. Barefoot and dressed in raggedy clothes, the only thing they took was a basket or bag for gathering. They left me with some advice, “Be careful what you leave outside…there might be poor people around who would take things from your yard.” “Yeah, like lemonade! It didn’t take long before five dirty faces peered around the...

Barefoot in the Ozarks: July 2012

http://barefootintheozarks.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Barefoot in the Ozarks. Friday, July 13, 2012. I laughed about it at the time as my son roared at us from the other room. How does one Be. It involves taking on the characteristics and habits of a stegosaurus. There would be some studying involved. Practicing, emulating, and then being. I think there’s a pretty good lesson here. If we desire our child (or ourselves for that matter) to become a person of honorable character, why not encourage him to “be” that person? Labels: Being a Parent. I have five ch...

Barefoot in the kitchen. March 8, 2008 · 9:25 pm. This makes my tummy happy. Is it possible to be an “authenticity nazi” in the States and survive? Barefoot in the Med

Barefoot in the Med. Sunday, August 5, 2012. Bormes to Bandol to Cassis to Port Camargue. Dinner out at Chez Geralds, our first night at Bandol. The last time. We ate here was with my brother Gerald and his son Nick. The seriously grumpy restaurant owner, the food was good though. Heading back to AMICI after dinner in Cassis. Waiting for our coffee and Limoncello, Cassis. AMICI lit up blue in the background. Scotty and Sylvia with their super sized prawn salads, Camargue. The Pastis lethal rocket fuel.

A seasonal, local (Pacific Northwest) hearty soup with that takes just 20 minutes to make. I double this recipe for my hungry family and it still never seems to be enough. It's such an easy uncomplicated recipe, its okay if its gobbled up in an hour. :). 2 cloves of garlic. 1 to 2 tbsp olive oil. Peeled and cubed potatoes (I used yukon golden). 1 medium savoy cabbage.

Barefoot in the Park

Barefoot in the Park. Play While You Play…. I mainly have pictures this week. We decided to take the week off. We had a few days of 70 degree weather (that ironically came right after an ice storm that put our county in a state of emergency) that were just screaming for a field trip. So we headed to the Greensboro Science Center. The Museum of Life and Science. And finally the Children’s Museum of Alamance County. I hope everyone had a good week! March 15, 2014. How awful is this? We’re in week 27 ...
