Cycling the World for Birds: October 2013
http://cyclingtheworldforbirds.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Cycling the World for Birds. Sunday, October 27, 2013. Turkey, at long last. The wind was relentless and always seemed to blow directly from the front no matter which way we were going. Coastal view on the way to İstanbul. Not much birding was done along the way! Cycling along the road works to avoid the traffic. Alex beside a modified motorcycle of sorts. My first beer in five years! Alex looking out to sea from our campsite; my first night without a tent. Heading for İstanbul, with miles still to go.

Cycling the World for Birds: November 2014

Cycling the World for Birds. Thursday, November 20, 2014. Malaysia in a rush. From Trichy in southern India I took a flight to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, to make my first appearance in South-East Asia. Wow, the humidity was a couple notches higher than what I had experienced in India, but such drastic changes are always welcomed and appreciated – a constant reminder that one is in a new and exciting place! Camping in a palm oil plantation in Malaysia. Typical roadside scene along Malaysia's west coast.

Cycling the World for Birds: July 2015

Cycling the World for Birds. Friday, July 31, 2015. How to get to Quito. Nothing seemed too different when I crossed the border from Colombia to Ecuador. It was still green hills everywhere. Before long I reached. Ecuador uses US Dollars as its currency (it replaced the Sucre), so the biggest change for me was adjusting to the new exchange rate. I'd been stuck on Colombian Pesos for six months,. Where 2500 Pesos were the equivalent of. One Dollar. It took a couple days for it to sink in…. After my birdin...

Cycling the World for Birds: February 2015
http://cyclingtheworldforbirds.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Cycling the World for Birds. Saturday, February 21, 2015. More mountains and birds. 40 km to San Gil before nightfall! Sure, they are not carrying the load that I am, but still! Closer to the top of the canyon was an amusement park of sorts, with countless Colombians enjoying the activities and incredible view over the canyon. Tackling the Chicamocha Canyon in the heat of the day; great view though! Traffic on the road while ascending Chicamocha. I was glad the road did not go through there! As I closed ...

Cycling the World for Birds: March 2014
http://cyclingtheworldforbirds.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Cycling the World for Birds. Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Down to the Persian Gulf. Just when I thought things couldn’t get better in Iran, I was in for another incredible couple weeks. The road south of Shiraz took me through some interesting terrain, and perhaps some of the most scenic I had seen yet in Iran. I love deserts (I grew up in one in South Africa), so am somewhat biased towards them! I couldn't tick this rooster and turkey for my bird trip list! An old bridge near Kavar, southern Iran. A second ...

Lauantai 11. heinäkuuta 2015. Lapin tunnelmia 18 - 22.6.
